Windhorst Radio Show & Updates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Never played with someone of Kyrie's talent? Did Windhorst miss the first season he played with Wade? That Wade was better than this Kyrie.....

Yeah I didn't quite get that point either. I'm assuming he means that LeBron has never gotten to mold and be directly involved with the development of a talent like Kyrie's? After all, Kyrie is going to be amazing for a long time.

I highly doubt Windhorst means that Kyrie is going to be on another level in his prime than what Wade was in his own. I mean, Wade is near the top of the list of best players at his position ever.

The thing with Kyrie isn't just that he's ball dominant it's that he doesn't set up the offense.

I actually think that is now becoming more and more of a moot point. They run that weave now a lot at the top of the key to get the matchup they want. The ball moves much more than earlier in the year.

My point is that they are now running some of Blatt's stuff and that does not necessarily require a "standard" point guard. Kyrie is, and always will be, a hybrid PG/SG type guard. It's who he is. A la Isiah Thomas. It's up to the team to best utilize his strengths and I see that happening more and more - when at full strength.

I consider the 55 point game the exception. Lebron was out obviously, but also Kyrie caught fire. Any NBA team will repeatedly feed that hot hand. And that's what they did.

Part of it was also that basically everyone else was cold.

It's crazy were not utilizing our second or third best offensive player correctly at all and were now the most efficient offense in the league(8 games)

Love is hurt-dont think I have seen an NBA player play with a back brace before-I dont think a lot more needs to be said about that. I think that Kyrie comes from a different socioeconomic strata than most NBA players (father first a pro basketball player and then an investment banker) and he went to Duke-doesnt fit in with most of the rest of the NBA.

I think he worked for a Wall Street bank - I forget his title (too lazy to google). But yeah, he had a middle class childhood, perhaps trending towards upper middle class but you'd be surprised how high the cost of living is in our part of NJ. He went to Jack and Jill parties. But they weren't rich by any means.

It's my understanding that JR Smith had a rather privileged upbringing...everything that suggests otherwise are just peoples' assumptions.

Also since Jan. 15, Cavs have played 2nd-easiest schedule in league (opponents combined .425 win %). Knicks (.378) played easiest.

Hey Brian, we have beaten the Clippers, Bulls, Blazers, and Thunder over that stretch. Plus we won 4 games in 5 nights including two on the road....

It has been a pretty easy schedule. A lot of people here have pointed out how we needed to take advantage of it. Don't know why when Windy says it he's wrong.

Way to cherry pick this tweet without including the one he posted immediately before:

During Cavs 11-game win streak they've made up 7 games on Bulls, 7 games on Wizards, 4 on Raptors. He's simply reporting a statistical fact. Don't really think that makes him a "wet-blanket."

Never understood the hate that guy gets around these parts. :dunno:

The Thunder are an example of how SOS can be problematic at times. They are much better than their record now that Durant and Westbrook are back and (mostly) healthy.

Yeah, I mean, facts are facts.

Yes, we played the Clippers, Bulls, Blazers, Thunder, but we also played the Jazz, Lakers, Sixers, Wolves, Kings and Hornets. I think you can see where the SOS got dragged down pretty quickly.

Doesn't mean they aren't good wins. All 4 wins over the big teams were games we won handily and/or impressively. And most of the games over the scrubs were laughers, with a couple strugglers sprinkled in (like Wolves, Sixers, and the first half vs. the Lakers)

On top of that, you've got teams like the 76ers and Timberwolves that drag it waaaaaay down because they have combined for 20 wins on the year.

The Hornets were playing really well when we met up with them, though. Hadn't they won eight of nine or something like that before we destroyed them? I'd say they were another team that was, at least at that point, better than their record.

Of course, as @Marcus said, playing the Lakers, Wolves, and Sixers in any stretch is going to really drag down your SOS rating.

On the other hand, we played a Noah-less bulls team that's been sputtering downwards and was playing worse than their record, as well as a Detroit team that recently lost Jennings.

We've had a few impressive wins but around the beginning of the streak people recognized the weak schedule as an opportunity to make up some ground. I'd like to see us take down a Warriors, Hawks, or Grizzlies and really get the hype train going. Beating the Clippers again today would help that SOS too.
