I almost feel bad. USA loses, they go home to the best country on earth.

Ghana loses...well they go home to Ghana. This is literally all they have.


Also, it looks like half of our players don't even speak English.

Pepe is out for the USA game because of his red card. Which is huge for us. With Altidore gone we need all the help we can get.

Klinsman seemed optimistic about Altidore, but the only thing you can do with hamstring injuries is rest them. I doubt he comes back during the group stage.

With Ghana and Portugal losing first game, I think its going to take four points and a goal differential to advance. Hopefully the US can pull a win out of its ass against Portugal and separate themselves.

Obviously, a US win would be ideal, but a tie with Portugal and a Germany win over Ghana wouldn't be too bad. Portugal would really have to crush Ghana in order to make up for goal differential. A Ghana win/tie against Germany really would make things interesting.

Agreed, a tie vs Portugal may well be enough. After the first round, it looked like they would really struggle against Ghana and they have a lot of ground to make up in terms of goal differential. Bento will also have his work cut out to get them up to play, they must be pretty demoralized. And this isn't the great Portugal team of years past. They struggled through qualifying and needed a Balon d'or-winning (literally) performace by Ronaldo to get past the worst Swedish team in 25 years. They are a Ronaldo away from utter mediocrity and who knows how fit, motivated and sharp he is. Couldn't tell by the Germany game.

I gave it a shot and watched. Between the lack of scoring and the stretchers getting hauled out there for fake injuries i almost punched my tv. I just don't get it...

That was by far the worst game of the WC so far.

I was actually thrilled by that result. Gives Bosnia a great chance to get out of the group.
