As expected after the announcement of the 399 kinectless xbox, ps4 dominated the sales this month. 197k vs 77k.

According to Gamestop the 399 XB1 was flying off the shelves. Should note that in the same statement they say the 499 model is still selling well, so make what you will.

We need cross gen to die. Watchdogs sold 46% on ps4, and 25% on xb1. Huge install base, but the people that buy lots of games have moved on.

Are PSN purchases on PS3 available on PS4 if I use the same PSN information?

You mean like as an example battlefield 4? They were originally doing a promo to upgrade to the new gen version for some games for 10 bucks, but I think the time period is over.

Some games are crossbuy between ps4 and ps3, so those would be available. Others, even the same game have to be bought over again.

I hope I answered well enough.

All your PSN purchases are available on every system, though they only work on some. For example I can buy a PSP game on my PS3, even download it, but it will only run on my PSP. Some downloadable games work on both PS3 and PS4 (child of light for example), but not all (Uncharted 3 for example).

One thing, even though i don't own a PS4 yet i still "purchase" the free games that are released for it through PS Plus on my PS3, and when i do get one finally I will have all those waiting, ready for me to download.

An interesting map that shows which console is leading each state:

I wish I had some analysis on why the Xbone holds the entire Western half of the country while the PS4 owns the midwest, but I do not. It's weird, though.

Midwest has the most gamers so it's not surprising they lead the sales war.

So will the GTAs, couple PS3 games, and Metal Gear Solid all work on Ps4 via PSN?

I've been playing a ton of Titanfall recently and I don't get the hate. It's actually a ton of fun and has made me enjoy shooters again. Battlefield was getting boring.

I think the map might be more representative of where console orders shipped in pallets rather than sold in stores. I highly doubt Hawaii has more Xbox One users than PS4.

that could also account for PS4 being midwest and X1 being west, their marketing departments told them to target those places so they ship the most there? just a hunch

You guys do know that that map is based on the amount of facebook likes each console has right? And I was called a fanboy in this thread lol.

Edit: and here is the article http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/22/5831876/ps4-xbox-one-most-popular-facebook-console-wars

Seriously, ps4 has outsold xb1 every single month except December in the US, where xb1 outsold it by about 60k. Ps4 the last two months alone has sold nearly 400k to xb1's less than 200k.

Yeah, seemed like b.s. to me. I don't think Xbox is likely leading in any state to be honest, the differential is just too great.

I did expect their sales numbers to improve dramatically though with the reduction in price. To see they are still lagging behind suggests gamers are probably miffed that the Xbox One sans Kinect offers 40% weaker performance for the same price as the PS4 yet again, without the Kinect which is what was supposed to make up the difference.

To be honest, I saw the picture on Forbes' gaming section (the only gaming site I can actually visit when I'm bored at work because the rest are blocked) and didn't read the article.

I don't see how that picture had anything to do with being a fanboy, though. The PS4 could easily outsell the Xbone overall (and I don't think anyone has disputed that fact, as it is a fact) while still losing in certain states. Also, a lot of those Western states have much lower populations than most of the Midwest states, so even if it were based on sales, it could still have been accurate.

For example, the Xbone could outsell the PS4 3:1 in Montana and it would mean significantly less overall than the PS4 outselling the Xbone 2:1 in Ohio.

Edit: Also, calling me a fanboy of either console is pretty ridiculous seeing as I play 90% of my games on the PC anyway. And people call you a fanboy because you are one. :chuckles:

Well we don't know the June numbers, so the effect could still be good for the kinnectless One. Likely not, may, June, July suck for consoles. For example only two times did 360 pass the ps4 in may sales, 2006, and 2011 (kinect release year).

The US has been ps4 every month besides December. I believe the difference would be somewhere around 700k ahead at this point. Certainly not insurmountable, but ps4 is already profitable on hardware alone, and the xb1 has a higher bill of materials than ps4, and ddr3 has likely bottomed out, while gddr5 is not close to that. Sony should be able to rapidly reduce price without losing money.

@jack, I didn't mean to sound like I was calling you a fanboy, just pointing out that I found that funny.

I'm sure both consoles are good, but unless I can get an xb1 for under 200 around fable release I will never know. I hate exclusives, and I am not buying a system for a single exclusive again, like I have in the past. Been burned too many times now.

The idea of exclusives is beyond stupid to me. I know that is the "draw", but fuck that. I don't want to drop 400 bones to just play fable, or 3 bills to play Zelda.

In all honesty I bought a ps4 because I like the controller. If the console was weaker I likely still would have bought it. If it was more expensive, likely not. Xbox then would have been a higher value.

My favourite exclusives are Fable, Zelda, TLOU, Infamous, and Heavenly Sword. I can live without a single one of them so long as I get my call of duty zombies. When that comes out I won't play another game.

Can someone tell me what these numbers mean? I've been checking thus thread for months and all I've seen were these numbers. I've got a xbox one, should I be worried?
