Yankees Respond to Cliff Lee move

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They have not lost consistently.

They're just losing now.

It doesn't make them a joke, it makes them down right now.

2 winning seasons

9 years.

We know it's not a level playing field and all that jazz, but you just said they haven't lost consistently. They have.

Bottom line is this.

If there was a salary cap in baseball the Yankees couldn't compete with the likes of the Indians because the only reason the Yankees even get to the playoffs is because they spend an extra $150 million per year.

If revenue was equal and money no factor then the Tribe would OWN the Yankees because the Yankees front office is fucking INEPT.

So yes I find it satisfying that the Yankees got turned down by the best SP on the market. How often does that happen?

I mean, fuck, $200 million payroll and you get one ring in 10 years? Really? But yet, every year the Yankees fans want to talk shit to every other teams fans and "rub" their faces in shit because we aren't winning rings left in right. Well, I think some Yankees fans still live decades ago and aren't with the "program" anymore. I am tired of PIP and all these other fans running their fucking mouth about all their rings. I really think its funny when they talk about the early 1900 Yankees. Like they were at those games or something.

Would I like to see the Tribe win a ring? Fuck ya I would. Would I trade places with the Yankees. FUCK NO. I would much rather build the team through the draft, watch the kids grow with the team and hopefully win a ring then spend $200 million a year and not win it as much as Yankees fans think they win.

I admire you, if what you say is true. You wouldn't give up being bottom of the barrel every year and maybe having hope to COMPETE once every 4-5 years, to be the Yankees, who even though they have to spend a ton of money still get to compete year in and year out?

I'd take the latter *shrug* Dont really care how much money some rich guy has to spend. I want my titles.

After finding out that you can't ignore Moderator posts, I've learned to just ignore his posts on my own. If you really think about it, he brings nothing to the table. A JJ Hickson joke here, some Derek Jeter fellatio there, making fun of a minor league signing the Indians made (while ignoring his team just signed Mark Prior), some pictures of World Series rings in place of logical arguments or relevant information...it's truly pointless to read his posts. I'm sure he's a good guy, but he's an attention-seeker that gets great joy out of baiting people to respond to his idiotic, baseless posts. It's ironic but in that way, he's very much like LeBron. He doesn't care what people think of him, as long as he's getting noticed.

The worst thing we can do is to feed the attention beast, which I am unfortunately doing right now. This will be my last response in any way to him, and I suggest to intelligent fans like you and others who come here to discuss sports with other knowledgeable fans to simply ignore his posts. If we all do that, he'll eventually go away and start trolling another part of RCF.
My team is better than your team and by my team I mean team PIP.... :)

I should ban you for this... You don't lash out at PIP, ass clown...

I'm going to report your post to PIP and see what comes of it...

You upset I'm not going to sit here and make an imbecile out of myself by mocking and laughing at one of the most successful sports franchises in history?

Make me fucking cackle, please. I refuse to join a shitty charade like that. Yeah, I'm jealous of the fucking Yankees, but at least I don't let everybody know about it by vomiting all over an Internet message board trying to make it out like they suck when in actuality every Indians fan would give a limb to trade places.

Hating the Yankees is cool, though, especially around here. I think a bigger crime would be the NYY organization having that kind of revenue and not spending it to put a better product on the field for their fans. To me, a baseball fan, that would be an outrage. Oh wait, that's what teams like the Royals, Pirates, etc do every year, pocket money and don't put it back into their team!

So no, I'm not kidding you. I'm not buying the bullshit you're selling, Gunther, b00bie, mac, and whoever else is going to try and explain to me in actuality how shitty the Yankees current position in baseball is.

Have you bought your Yankees gear yet? You're half way there . . .

GUNTHER !!!!!!!!!!

You spelled Indians wrong... Otherwise, very accurate information..

Said I'm obviously not a Yankees fan. When was the last time you saw me rooting for them?

Just being rational. Guess that doesn't get you far on these forums anymore. Nothing I said was untrue and you know it, so don't bother.

2 winning seasons

We know it's not a level playing field and all that jazz, but you just said they haven't lost consistently. They have.

Statistics can say whatever you want them to say if you try hard enough. It's interesting that we're discussing the Dolans, but you chose to leave out 2000 and 2001, which were winning seasons. They were also years in which Dolan owned the Tribe. 4 in 11 isn't great, but it does look a little better.

The rebuilding cycle looks like this (The season's goal is listed first):

2002 - Begin Rebuild
2003 - Rebuild Phase One: Play the Youth
2004 - Rebuild Phase Two: Develop the Youth, Find Your Core
2005 - Contend (93 wins, just missed playoffs)
2006 - Contend (Did not meet expectations; losing record)
2007 - Contend (96 wins, lost in ALCS)
2008 - Contend (Injuries kill season; .500 record)
2009 - Begin 2nd Rebuild
2010 - Rebuild Phase One: Play the Youth
2011 - Rebuild Phase Two: Develop the Youth, Find Your Core
2012 - Contend
2013 - Contend
2014 - Contend
2015 - Contend
2016 - Begin 3rd Rebuild

Only 2006 and 2008 went against the plan of when the Indians would contend or not, and one of those years ('08) was killed by an unusually high amount of injuries to core players. Unfortunately, they didn't get the job done in 2005 and 2007.

MLB gives significant competitive advantages to large market teams, so this is what mid-market teams do...this is the model they follow. The sooner people understand and accept that, the better off we'll all be.

4 in 11, 2 in 9, it makes no difference, both support my point. Really, makes no difference to me whatsoever. The Indians have lost consistently. Fact. b00bie contested this point, and I posted that to prove him wrong. Your rebuild cycles and Dolan Defenses are irrelevant to this.

Why does anyone who posts that the Indians are small market is somehow in love with the Dolan family?

I literally still don't understand the correlation.

Anyone who really thinks THAT is the motive here is just getting desperate for a reply...I don't really give a shit who the owner is...one look around the league at other teams in like-markets really prove that the guy in charge is irrelevant.

Cashman with a low risk/high reward signing.... Perfect addition..

I agreed with you on this, but you always gotta be an asshole and bash Cleveland.

This reply to me? Because I said nothing of the sort.

I think you've got this backwards:

Number of World Series lost by the Cleveland Indians: 3
1954, 1995, 1997

Number of World Series lost by the New York Yankees: 13
1921, 1922, 1926, 1942, 1955, 1957, 1960, 1963, 1964, 1976, 1981, 2001, 2003

The Yankees have lost the World Series FOUR TIMES AS OFTEN AS THE INDIANS. Therefore, they suck four times as bad.
