Terry Brooks is a good author. He wrote Hook amongst other good books. Oh crap, wrong dude, sorry.

Wow. As much as I hate bumping an old thread, Terry Brooks is an excellent author and you suggesting that he wrote Hook is a little bit of a stretch. Yes, he wrote a book called Hook that was based on a movie. He did not WRITE Hook though. The book was written AFTER the movie.

To say Terry Brooks is a good author and then say something dumb like he wrote Hook, is like saying J.R. Tolkien wrote Sesame Street.

Terry Brooks wrote The Sword of Shanarra. That would be a great start. Especially, being that it was the first Fantasy book ever to hit the New York Times Best Seller list, and was also used to launch Del Rey books as a subsidiary of Ballantine after being accepted for publishment by the latter. Yes, he wrote many other great books, and yes he wrote a novel adaptation for a great children's story, but if you're going to say great author and Hook in the same sentence, you are taking a hell of a lot away from this man and his REAL accomplishments.

The last snippet of a review of his book off Amazon from some guy in MD. He likes the book but one part caught my eye.

"There don't seem to be any women in the story until about two-thirds into it, when one of the characters stumbles upon what else? A beautiful princess. And that's all we ever learn about her. Brooks's portrayal of women is one of the things which made me dislike some of his other books. By now, I'm starting to forgive him for these flaws. What's more, I'm slowly becoming a convert to his verbose, cliché-ridden, dead-serious, and highly enjoyable fantasy epics."

It's nice he was not guilty, but does he now get his job back? Probably not. He was suspended from his job because of this, right? Shouldn't Channel 5 now reinstate him?

This is SUCH a flawed system. I think the sexual assault justice system specifically is complete bullshit. I'm not saying I believe that this did or did not happen, but tons of people are thrown into jail without any actual testing and just based strictly on a woman's word of mouth.
