Whether or not he's touching line has no bearing. Above the line counts as on the line. Not to mention he was late getting there to begin with.
Edit:
@JayBilas
On the charge call, college basketball refs repeatedly call charges on clear blocks. It is an epidemic, and a failure. We can do better.
That call was so hard to make, I can't see how ANYONE can use that. It's unfortunate for them, but it was so close, and this is going full speed.
There were numerous awful calls both ways. Two guys go for the ball, a foul on Ohio State that puts Iowa St. to the line. That was more absurd!
Then at the end of the game, they for some bizarre reason decide to add .3 of second. We'll agree, this wasn't the the sharpest crew on the court. I just can't take that one Craft charge, and use that to blast them, when it was such a tough one to make.
And Barkley was WRONG, the ball was definitely last touched by Iowa St. at the end of the game. I think Thomas did get a hand on it first, then another Iowa St guy knocked it second. Barkley just sounded like a poor sport.
Anthony said it best. Ball calls happen throughout the game. I say this as a moderate Ohio State fan. I just hate it when people use officiating, especially when it plays no part in the last play of the game, to determine why a team won.
You can go through call after call, and you'll bang your head against the wall. Bottom line Iowa St. still had chance to win, and they didn't.
