[Playoff Matchup Thread] Cleveland vs. Boston

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did they not drop confetti during every single win this year? I remember thinking about this during a random win that all this confetti would really suck to have to clean up for those workers after every win and continued to wonder if it also happened at Monsters and Gladiator games as well.

We drop confetti after every game, as do a lot of teams in the NBA . Where is the fuss from New Orleans writers about Golden State dropping confetti after beating the Pelicans last night...only Boston levels of smugness can achieve this writing feat.

The article demonstrates a profound Boston parochiolism.

Not only that, it's something we've done for years to appeal to the fans and especially the kids.

This curly headed fuck took it personally and wrote a reckless diatribe riddled with inaccuracy. Hack journalism.

What would a Boston sports journalist or even fan know about Cleveland, honestly? This is a town that has a zillion sports championships just in the last 15 years alone, not even speaking to the historical dominance of the Celtics as one of the premiere NBA franchises. I mean, Jesus, they made a couple trades and went from bottom of the barrel to NBA champions in one season. This is truly a spoiled sports town. And that isn't a jab at them. We're hoping the Cavs do that this year (although our other teams leave a lot to be desired).

But it does beg the question, what the hell would they know about us? Windhorst was just talking about this and it's hard to disagree with him: a Boston fan or sports reporter has zero perspective when it comes to other towns' sports suffering, and listening to them talk it's clear how out of touch they are with reality.

So, hard to blame them too much. It's just ignorance.

Yup...there was a breaking photo of him recently driving around Cleveland this morning:

(Boston radio guy) The Cavs are gonna dominate, might even sweep. But it's in not only the Celtics' best interest, but also the Cavs and NBA in general, for the C's to put up the strongest fight they can and get the Cavs battle tested for the rounds to come.

I fully agree. I don't really want a boring series. I mean, I'm fine with a sweep, but I hope it takes some grit to win every game. We need the practice, and this is the perfect way to get it in.

Fuck that. Get in and get out of these games as easily as possible. Next series is going to be a grind, so getting all the rest we can before it is fine by me.

I agree with Stereo in that we still need to develop and sharpen our rotations/defense- we're still playoff toddlers at this point.

I'm not buying the rest thing at all (barring injury)- there are no back-to-backs, and we do awesomely with 1+ day rest. If we can pull this off WITHOUT INJURIES :fingersx: I'd be fine with a 5-game series. I know the Bulls will be tough but we don't need to go into that series clunking it up with, what...a 7 to 9 day layoff?? No thanks...we're going to have plenty of prep time- give Blatt 3 days, he can keep our soon-to-be well-oiled machine humming.

Well every extra game you play is a potential for injury. No matter who the opponent is. One guy landing awkwardly after a dunk and there goes our title run.

Sweep as many teams as you can, rest and practice.

I just don't think Boston can get challenge us at the level that Chicago will challenge us, so the only thing I'm worried about is health.

Look at that game last night. Chicago was in a scrum with Milwaukee and got one of their guys hurt.

Hopefully the Cavs can build off the second half of the last game and blow out the Celts from the get go. Then they will have to go to Boston and try to win one on the road, and then hopefully they can get the practice of closing out the series on the road.

To me that's enough experience in this series, and I'd rather not screw around.

As mentioned previously it's not the level of challenge we need from Boston it's their penetrative guards and pick and pop bigs. Those have caused us defensive problems this year and so 4 games to tune the rotations will help

So Boston played a lot more Crowder and Zeller last night. Cavs stayed big. Boston's guards attacked our front line to try to get them in foul trouble, which sort of worked, but they lost the game anyway because they don't have Lebron James. Boston looks like they can win a game or two if they can keep JR Smith from scoring. Boston is doing a pretty good job of limitting his looks amd disrupting the weak side ball swings. But even a couple JR treys prevent it from getting close and he's going to hit some eventually. Thomas might be the worst matchup in the league for Delly and Perk has no place in this series at all. Didn't like those minutes at all, but what are the Cavs going to do when Kyrie sits?
