Good thing we wont have to face them in the Finals. Popp is gonna be VERY prepared for the Warriors. Hes not going to play stupid trapping defense that leaves Draymond (a top 10 player and great playmaker) wiiiiiide open. Hes gonna do the smart thing and make Curry beat you by himself.

I'm very worried about the Spurs though when we face them in the finals
This is rely the best post since the loss.

We won't have Gsw. Well face San Antonio who we match up better with

I don't think this is that crazy of a theory. What incentive did we have to break out all of our best strategies in Mid-January? Why would we start Mozzie when he's already been struggling and we already figured out that our best lineup was with Tristan at C back in the Finals? It just doesn't make sense. Also, as others have pointed out, why put RJ on Draymond Green if you're truly trying to win the game (albeit, we were already down by 20+ at that point)?
Yeah there was a lot of posturing in that one, especially when we got down big.

The whole west being a 3 team race and East being a 1 team race, is a bit double edged though. We have to prepare to face 1 of the three, maybe 4, those teams only prepare for us. It's strange, even though GS started out so hot, there is a real possibility that they could end up 2nd in the conference, he'll even third if they rest players.

I'm going to throw out a crazy theory here... one full of optimism

What if the Cavs found enough good things in the Christmas Day game (they actually matched up well vs. GSW) that they felt confident enough they could reuse the same formula in June to beat these guys. They would have won that game with free throws.

They chose not to use the same gameplan the other night to not put it on film.

Say the Cavs beat the Warriors the other night using the same gameplan, it gives Warriors 6 months to find ways to beat it. So you go into the game without a plan, lose badly, and the Warriors are no longer strategizing as eagerly to beat the Cavs. What if the Cavs played dead?

We can all agree there was no defensive or offensive gameplan the other night, maybe it was partially on purpose.
I love this theory. I said something similar in the game thread.

Additionally, by letting them kick our ass, it keeps them in the spotlight and allows us to continue flying under the radar a bit. All of which is a good thing as well.

While I like conspiracy theories like this, I don't think it's true. Evidence: how pissed off LeBron looked when he was going off on Lue during the 4th.

Unless...that was part of the performance... ;)

I get what you're trying to say, but getting blown out like that in such an embarrassing fashion doesn't help us "stay under the radar" any more than beating them would be. By losing like that on national TV, you end up getting a lot of "WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE CAVS?? IS IT TIME FOR BLATT TO BE SHOWN THE DOOR? HOW LONG UNTIL LOVE IS TRADED FOR MARKIEFF MORRIS?" and similar nonsense. It ends up being even more of a distraction.

Agreed. As my post says, I don't believe the theory. I was just playing along for fun.

I think "historically good" is being thrown around here quite liberally these days. This reminds me of the "bush league" posts of last April.

The Warriors were hot and our game plan did not work. They also were blown out in Detroit two nights earlier. Let's see where the chips fall in the spring before we start anointing anyone the 72 Dolphins.

Im done underrating the Warriors. They are indeed historically good. When they play the way they did the other night against us, they are unbeatable. The bulls of old, the Celtics of old, the Lakers, anything you put against them would get fried. Unbeatable.

Luckily they wont play that way every night. But theyve lost four games in half a season. The time for downplaying them is at an end. They are that good. And if we hope to beat them, we need to understand that we will be accomplishing something special.

We shoulda started delly just to fuck with them
Every time curry sat bring in ky and let him go nuts on their second team
And frankly since delly is the dirtiest player in the game I woulda had him foul the fuck outta curry if he gets suspended fuck it its January
And if anyone touches delly we got two big was Russians put both of them in and just lettem hard foul everything
If they get suspended fuck it
January
Fuck sportsmanship
Fuck playing nice
Pull some bad boy piston shit and scare the fuck outta teams because we will literally hurt you because we want the title that bad and are sick of playing nice

Fine, but I remember the 2007 Patriots being historically good too. Some even said unbeatable. Let's not anoint them yet.

I'm telling you, hack-a-bogut may be our best strategy. It's an average of about 1.1 points per possession. Also slows the hell out of the game.

Not saying they aren't beatable in a 7 game series. Like I said in my post, it's time to recognize this is an uphill battle, we will be heavy underdogs and rightfully so.

Spurs, Warriors, Celtics, Pistons, Magic....it's always uphill for Cleveland.

That's one game Vs a seven game series.

Basketball takes that result out of the equation.

No one is anointing them.

What normal people see though is a defending NBA champion that won 67 games last year (1 of only 12 teams in history to do so) has gotten even better this year.

Beating them 4 times in 7 games when they have the home court will be a herculean task.

Impossible? No. It is going to take an otherworldly effort to pull off though.

Might be the first post you've made this season that I think is entirely, 100% on point. :chuckle: I mean that as a compliment. Totally agree with this.
