Because I've seen enough drafts come and go over the years. Super draft years end up being duds, bad years end up being great. The draft is a crap shoot and rarely is there a can't miss sure fire guy. There isn't one of those guys in this draft.
It could very well churn out all stars and a superstar but there is no sure fire guy in this draft.
I'm not impressed at all with josh Jackson who had a lot of hype surrounding him.
For as unorthodox as their shots are, Ball and Jackson just know how to play basketball. Jackson especially has looked fantastic for a good 75% of the season (and his three point shooting has skyrocketed since big 12 play started). He's shown the potential to play with or without the ball and guard four positions. I really think the guy has Kawhi Leonard potential.
Fultz and Dennis Smith are going to be really good point guards in this league. Fultz reminds me a little bit of Harden. Not a super explosive athlete, but he knows how to find creases in the defense and his vision is better than defenses think. Smith is extremely quick off the dribble, can shoot, and does some of everything for an NC St team that lacks, well, a lot. Ball is one of the best passers/floor generals I've seen in the college game in a while. He really controls the tempo (now if only his dad would shut up).
Tatum... is a bit of a mystery to me. It looks like he's finally starting to figure out how big and athletic he is, and he's got a pretty good looking shot to boot. He's got a little bit of Wiggins in him where he has a tendency to float and defer to older guys, but he rebounds it better and, like Wiggins, makes 2-3 plays a game that make you go "wow."
I don't know about the rest of the draft, but the top-five has a chance to be really special.
