It's very interesting how Lebron's commitment or lack thereof was an issue with turning Kyrie into George+Bledsoe but not with turning Love into George. Seems Kyrie-George may have been enough to get Lebron to stay. Kyrie going to Gilbert's office to tell Gilbert he wanted out after the Love for George trade fell through makes more sense in light of that.
I wonder if the Woj article followed by the Sheridan stuff followed by Broussard and others denying the Sheridan stuff is increased friction between Lebron's camp and the Cavs organization. The Cavs front office fielding trade offers with the stance of assuming Lebron is leaving until Lebron commits may have ticked off the Lebron camp, who retaliated with an increased threat to leave.
Lebron is hinting who he wants through social media: Paul George(27), Josh Jackson(20), Hassan Whiteside(28), young enough players that wouldn't screw over the Cavs organization if he left. Lebron has never been in favor of trading Love for Melo, even going so far as to trash the reporter who claimed he was. So I think it's unfair to dichotomize current trade suggestions into win now for Lebron at the expense of the Cavs future or not. Yes Lebron wanted JR and Tristan to get paid, but that's in the distant past.
I think what's going on is the Lebron camp is telling the front office to stand firm and not accept anything less than the players Lebron wants, to the point of holding off trading Kyrie if necessary. No trades with teams like Milwaukee, Denver, or Minnesota. There's been buzz about the Cavs wanting Porzingas but Lebron hasn't hinted he wants Porzingas. With only George,Jackson,Whiteside, Lebron is now a conservative poker player who will only go in with a really good hand, while Gilbert doesn't want to wait until the last minute to try to get a decent haul for Kyrie just before Lebron could leave.
