The Chubb-Hub Yardage Delivery Service

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let's hope the Ravens keep that cancerous quitter on their team for a long time. He's been pretty underwhelming so far this season on the field as well.

Looked to me like both of them were inactive for that game.

:chuckle:

Maybe we are splitting hairs here but what makes Chubb a potentially elite runner is his elusiveness. Most people make the wrong application of elusiveness and apply it only to guys who can juke, etc.......but Chubb is otherworldly at beating a defender 1/1......wether that is through speed, power, patience, whatever. He just brushes guys off 1 on 1. That Ravens game was an absolute clinic.....he ran over people, he ran through arm tackles, he ran by guys when he had a lane......if he stays healthy, his combination of speed and power is unrivaled IMO, just as a pure runner. I think you can argue other guys are more valuable because Chubb is only a 2.5 down back......but if I need 2 yards.....or I need to ice a game away and a run play needs to be called, I want Chubb taking that carry.

And when Hunt comes back, we just have an embarrassment of riches at RB.

Hunt could be a really nice trade chip. Help add some talent to the OL.

I really wish Kitchens would have given Chubb that 4th touchdown instead of Hilliard.

Dude was the workhorse all game and the biggest reason we just took the lead in the AFCN. I’d have liked to see him rewarded with a 4 touchdown game

I think if we utilized him more in the passing game, he could be just as effective as some of those guys. That crazy TD catch from last year where he caught the ball off of a defender's back proved to me has the chops but for whatever reason, it's an afterthought in this offense.
I disagree with this. Kamara and McCaffery are substantially better in the passing game than Duke Johnson. They are effectively receivers. Chubb just doesn’t have the horizontal speed nor crisp route running that the other two have. Chubb is outstanding, but let’s not pretend he’s better than two of the best receiving backs of all-time in the passing game.

Trade deadline is after week 8 I really don’t think we would trade him before he suits up for us

Also I really like the idea of a guy with fresh legs of that talent level joining in mid season. And a tremendous Chubb insurance policy should he get injured

While the 88 yard TD was pretty impressive, the 14 yarder where he broke 3 tackles was a thing of beauty. He just shed those tacklers like he was going over speedbumps.

Play at 1:34 is what I was describing in my previous post about elusiveness. Just crazy, crazy gifts.

In that play.......

1. We don't secure the kick-out / edge.....this play should be dead.
2. Chubb hops over the guy who nearly blows up the play for a loss.
3. After hopping, he takes 2 strides to get back to full speed.
4. He leans inside to set up the cut off of Landry's block.
5. He slides off of the big shot Thomas tries to lay on him and falls forward for 3-4 more yards.

Just the amount skill in this ho-hum 17-18 yard gain is pretty fun. He makes it look so effortless.

Two of**. Didn’t mean to imply they were the two best. Faulk, Jamaal Charles, and a few other guys were as good or better. I just think it’s silly to suggest that Chubb is as good as McCaffery and Kamara in the pass game. He’s nowhere close, and that is even if one assumes that Chubb will improve in that facet.

Someone may have said it up-thread..but on a team with so many loud, flashy, and borderline cocky personalities, Chubb is such an interesting contrast.

Yin and yang. His quiet confidence and excellent play speak for themselves, and even the loudest of teammates seem to have the utmost respect for him, his style, and his demeanor. Really cool player.

Yeah my fault I read that wrong.

I’m trying to find game grades for PFF but can only see aggregates currently

But Chubb is up to 7th for all RBs with a grade of 79.5

The guys ahead of him? Some surprises:
1. Cook: 91
2. Ekeler: 85.4
3. McCaffrey: 82.3
4. Josh Jacobs: 82.2
5. Somehow Carlos Hyde: 80.6
6. Royce Freeman: 79.8

I do think part of this could be Chubb’s first two weeks...

The other thing about Chubb is he does two things PFF puts emphasis on: yards after touch and breaking tackles. As a result, I’d be surprised if he’s anywhere lower than fifth in their grades by the end of the season.

Chubb reminds me so much of Shaun Alexander. Both in running style, skill, demeanor, peers.

Alexander played in the shadows of some more flashy, more popular names but was just a stud in his prime....as a great 2 down runner and a good enough pass catcher to keep you honest.

Chubb has a bit more explosion than Alexander but I think that is a good comp for him....just in terms of skill and production.

Watch this tape.....just looks so much like Chubb's patience, vision, elusiveness.

Chubb is a one cut runner with an elite burst of speed and runs through arm tackles, this is why he beats so many people one on one. I wouldn't call it elusive but we are splitting hairs on terms.

What is really crazy is I watched the Chubb run and the OBJ run over and over to compare the 2, and Chubb seemed to have the better break away speed. I know his combine 40 doesn't count because he wasn't 100% healed from the knee and maybe OBJ's hip injury is cutting his speed, but holy crap does our boy Chubb have a burst.
