I started a chant for Rui that caught on at the last 4 Wizards games I went to:

Whooooooo Biiiiiig Ruiiiiiiiii

And I do the Japanese eyes while I do it. People love it out in Washington.

1/10.

Stick, did you ever know that you're my hero? You are the wind beneath my wings. This is gold. Thanks!

Assists are an inherently flawed stat for this exact reason -- it's dependent on whether some other player does his job too. Even accounting for that, it sure seems like Garland has gotten shafted the past couple of games. He has had several passes that put teammates in a great position to score, but said teammates just couldn't cash it in. Such is the life of a point guard, I suppose. I'm hoping that it evens out soon, and that we get one of those 15-assist games that announces "I've arrived" to the NBA world.

I never knew! Thank you!

Yes, stats, in general, can be utilized very well, but there are flaws. It tells a story, but that story is told with words. Concrete, to-the-point, words. It lacks the full picture, the full context of what's happening. But with just the picture in hand, you will have many different interpretations. The two can support the whole of the idea.

There are players that hunt assists, but that can put their team in a bad position if the pass they make is low in the shot-clock and the player has to shoot off their pass. The goal is to generate good looks, and if you can do so at a high level and most importantly, consistently, the rest will take care of itself. But you're absolutely right, if you get a clean look off a good feed, the player that caught it has to finish the connection so it "counts" in that concrete tale.

High expectations you got there buddy.
damn straight esp when picking at 5th overall. People love to look at players they didn't take and scrutinize those players college games, yet everyone knows Garland didn't play in college , not a big enough sample size and not against anyone with other 1st round players on their rosters.
I still think they drafted him to trade him , and nobody would give up value.

Or Cavaliers shopped the pick and the best offer was Saric + 11 so they passed and took who they had as BPA on their draft board? We didn't see much of him in college. Cavaliers saw a private work out, Analyzed his 4 games in college, reviewed HS tape. And liked what they saw? NBA had a much more in depth process then we do as fans. If they drafted him to trade him they would have done so. They didn't get any offers they liked so they took their guy. Why is that so hard for you to believe?

Who did you want at this point? Which guy is killing it so hard you wish you had him? Culver? Or one of the guys that was picked way after? Should we have drafted Hachimura or Clarke?

Garland hasn't even really had a good game yet, but he is looking way better. It also makes sense he isn't in shape yet since he hasn't played in a year.

Last time he listed Jaxson Hayes, Rui Hachimura, Culver, Herro as players we "missed" on.

Yeah not that cut and Dried. Only Culver was in serious consideration at that spot. I think the Cavs might have taken Hayes if they had gotten another late lottery pick, but even then he would not have been there. Hachimura only makes it to 5 in a hindsight draft. He looks good. I like him.

I literally don't care about any of those dudes if Windler is who I think, and if Porter can get his jump shot under control. Seeing Porter's progress should really allay a lot of fears about Darius being a bust.

I don't think this is the draft to complain about. I think it is going to end up being one of the best Cavs drafts ever.

Love the crossover twice move today - that was lethal. Let’s give Garland some time - I am confident in him adapting to the NBA, the speed, the length, he will be able to excel. He has phenomenal skills. Remember he only played 5 games in college. Give him time.

Garland even while struggling and working into shape almost always still contributes somehow to the game. Phillly's size is a tough matchup for any guard, really. But he still had 3 steals.
