Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As a non interested party as a Cowboys fan, I think Garrett deserves suspension but should be able to come back last game of the season. Rudolph’s face is the most punchable face in the NFL. If Michael Bennett did the same thing and was out for the season, I may consider that worth the late round pick we gave for him.

Chin up Browns fan. Myles will be back wrecking the league soon enough, he’s not a bad guy.

If this happened at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon, there's nowhere near the same coverage. It was the only thing on Thursday night, and it embarrassed the shield, dominated social media and television Friday morning. It will blow over, it will be forgotten. Just can't believe Mason "my dad will sue you" Rudolph got zero. Fucker.

I actually think Rudolph getting 0 is one of Garrett's biggest defense.

How is it that the guy that initiated everything got 0, but the guy that was defending himself got indefinite.

Also the guy who wasn't involved but tackled Garrett, kicked him, and hit him on the ground got 3.

Seems like combined punishment of the Steelers should be Garrett's.

Seems like a discrepancy

Myles Garrett was “defending himself?”

Jesus Christ...

What a fucking embarrassing fan base.

Not quite - it is established legal precedent that nfl players voluntarily assume risk with regards to inherent violence in football plays (presumed consent), but do not voluntarily consent to the risk of after-the play violence, or even during-the-play violence, if it meets the level of "doesnt align with the goals of the game"

I.e if you blindside someone at full speed and break their neck during a timeout, you arent actually doing anything that could be construed as part of your normal role as a football player, and you could be sued. Players do not presume consent for those types of acts. NFL players dont get a free pass for that sort of violence on the field, legally.

The biggest issue is Rudolph didnt get hurt and started the fight so no damages to sue for as far as a tort is involved. For criminal charges, that isn't up to Rudolph, the entire city of Cleveland saw the tape and the Police Chief, Prosecutor, even the fucking Mayor could have Myles arrested if they thought it was warranted. It isn't up to a victim to "press" chargers per sey when the police are 100% aware of the even. With no harm, and Rudolph being the instigator, no way do they charge Myles with a crime.

Meh...forget the moral high ground people here, they always have the same ivory tower takes.

Lots of national talking heads calling out Rudolph's role now, and many have now seen the entire clip. Context always helps. Garrett deserves a suspension, but football is a violent sport and it's big business. Again, the lead story on USA Today today was calling out Rudolph as the provocateur. People are beginning to notice and that will only help Myles. Again, this whole thing will be out of the news cycle and blown over in a week. Like LeBron and the China thing. Guess what.....nobody gives two shits about Hong Kong weeks later. It will be something else by Thanksgiving. And then something else by Christmas.

We don't "need" him to win the last game of the season against the Bungles, though.

I think people are thinking appeal to get him back for the Baltimore game or even the @Arizona game, but otherwise don't even bother.

Defending himself may be the wrong word, provoked and instigated do fit though.

The provocation does not excuse Garrett stepping way over the line.

There is no excuse for that, and punishing Rudolph when you otherwise wouldn't, just because Garrett went way over the line, doesn't make any sense.

Rudolph should have been flagged, maybe fined. But he doesn't deserve more punishment because Garrett was a cunt hair away from committing a crime on the field.

The entire logic of that sentiment makes no sense, but claiming Garrett was acting in self-defense is a fucking trainwreck of a take. Like, you should actually be ashamed of yourself if you're bending over that far just to excuse what he did.

Disgusting stuff, honestly.

The NFL can't let this happen again,,they can't have players yanking off players helmets and bashing each other over the head with them...that's what really
worries me about this as far as suspension goes. They have to make an example of him so no one else even thinks of doing it again.
Hopefully the suspension is only the rest of this year....

I do agree with this. Had Rudolph not been the instigator and aggressor I would think 10 games or more. Say Garrett ripped the hat off and immediately started bashing. But you have to look at the entire incident. Plus big thing Myles has going for him is that no one was hurt.
