Set Free: Dante Exum

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just stay healthy. He’ll work well with garland and Sexton they need a defensive guard next to them.

Thats been the main issue. 6 years in the NBA and 5 years of injuries. Hopefully our medical staff can figure something out. Exum has the perfect skillset to mesh with Garland/Sexton as he can defend and he's a pass first guy.

We traded the guy who is arguably the best scorer on the team, 22.9/36 minutes at a 58.8% true shooting percentage (leading average per 36 of anyone getting minutes on the team, one of the leaders in efficiency) for Dante Exum and two second rounders. That was really all Koby could get? Second rounders are second rounders and, in his fifth NBA season, Dante Exum is most likely Dante Exum too.

Oh well, it might work out I guess...carry on!

His contract allows us to reach the salary floor and get 2 second round picks. So I’m not excited but I also never bought the FRP dream for Clarkson. He was a good player and had a career year on a bad team but can he prove it on a playoff team? He certainly bottled it in the 2018 playoffs.

I also do feel for Exum as it’s pretty sad how his body has betrayed him.

If he can stay fit he will be good, no star but a solid defensive guard that moves the ball. He most likely won’t stay fit though

Maybe he follows the Shaun Livingston career path. Injuries destroy him early but becomes a decent contributor off the bench. Neither could shoot a lick in their younger days and both Atheltic/Defensive minded pass first guys.

This guy is upset to lose him, kind of a funny vid tbh

His rant was terrible if I wasn't bored at work I would have stopped watching when he cried about Green (Played PF for Utah) getting minutes over Exum (Guard). Does he expect Exum to get the minutes Green had at PF? I've seen a mixed bag from Utah fans on the trade. Some like it and think Clarkson can save their bench. Some like this clown think Exum has untapped potential.

Exum has been in the league for 6 years and has some defensive upside but this dude is acting like Utah traded away a potential all star. This isn't 2014 anymore Exum just doesn't have NBA skillset to be more then a stopper/secondary Facilitator.

eh it was a funny watch, especially when he had a go at Snyder (who is a decent coach). Also one comment having a go at their front office which drafted Donovan and Gobert in recent drafts.
But yeah he should have been more upset with Mudiay and Niang getting mins than Green
Exum maxes out as a bench combo guard that can average like 12-3-5 and play good defense, or basically a bigger Delly. Dont really see the Livingston comp as Livingston made a career on basically never missing in the post

Livingston on defense. Not offensively. That's who Exum needs to watch tape of to make it in the NBA. Exum Will never have the offensive skill to make it in the NBA if he doesn't become an elite defender. Livingston like Exum came into the NBA as an athletic freak with size and passing chops. Then Livingston had that freak injury and never really was the same athletically. Exum needs to study his defense if he wants success. They have similar atheltic profiles.

He is already a very good defender, I would be surprised if he isnt already our best defender on the team (not that there is much competition). He needs to find a way to impact consistently on offense to be a regular bench player for us, I would like to see us pair him with Sexton. He could basically be what Delly was for Clarkson.

I have mixed emotions on the trade. Yes, I'm glad KPJ and Garland will have more minutes. They are the future of the team. But at some point, you gotta score, and we will miss Clarksons offense off the bench the rest of this. season. The second round picks are so far down the road they are in high school today. Maybe Bronny's age.
Exum is not a long term solution. I just can't wait till we start adding pieces that could be considered building blocks for the future.
