Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This quote jumped out at me...

“Just play to the best of my ability, learn the system, find ways to help get our guards better, find ways to just help this team get out of this rut,” Drummond said. “Put us in a good situation to have a successful off-season and do something special next year.”

Wait a minute. He wants to help the Cavs have "a successfull off-season"? IOW, he wants to make the team more attractive to free agents and maybe even help recruit somebody?

Why is he thinking about the off-season? Is he coming back?

"Do something special next year". Yeah, it looks like he's already planning on coming back, otherwise why would he be talking about the off-season and next year before he even played his first game?

Edit: And why would he be so interested in helping our young guards get better if he's out of here this summer?

He’s not turning down 28mil, so unless the Hornets or Knicks do something crazy he will be back.

He has a 7’5 wingspan

He will not walk from 28 mil
But i like everything he is saying. Seems sincere
I think he will help the guards and ease the load on love. Just a complete surprise by koby. When you can get a all star level player .......for free. You take him

I thought his attitude in the interview was great. I mean, when reporters ask "What can you bring to the team?" you're being asked to talk positively about yourself.
Exactly, you'd expect him to say something like rebounding, interior defense, etc, but the first thing out of his mouth was about helping the young guards get better. Not helping Ante Zizic, who at least plays the same postion. Helping the guards. That's what he thinks he can bring to the team. Very surprising answer.

He's very impressed with the young guards. He also thinks he and Love can be a very effective combination. The only starter he didn't mention was Cedi.

That's because Cedi is just not very good.. He has a high BBIQ, but is just not enough jazz to play on a good team..

Can't argue too much and you're probably right that he's not a starter on a NBA Finals team. But he's getting better. From cleveland.com today:

" Cedi Osman has scored in double figures in 18 of his last 26 games. … During that stretch, Osman is averaging 12.8 points on 48.3% shooting and 42.2% from 3-point range."

If he can maintain those shooting percentages for a full season he can be a solid asset. I don't like how he gets caught ball watching on defense, letting his man sneak behind him for easy lobs and layups on back door cuts. He's also not much of a deterrent on layups even when he has good position.

It will be interesting next year to see if either Windler or the first round pick (if it's a small forward) can put Cedi on the bench.

I feel ya, but looking at his net progress, he just is not on any kind of net positive arc.. Watching Jim live, I see a lot of glue guy stuff, where he is unselfish with the ball, and where he trys to cover the rookie defensive mistakes.. but he is just not elite at anything, so if a good team wants to shut him down, he is unable to contribute.. that is the reason you need real star players. In the playoffs, everybody is playing hard, and it take elite skill to score anyway.. that's the value of LeBron..

Drummond is one of those guys we can draw up a play for, and he is really hard to stop.. With Love he is a tougher out.

If he had more touches then he would.
CEdi has been efficient given the limited touches that he gets.

He's locked up for the next four upcoming seasons at a price that is on par with 7th/8th guys in the rotation, decreasing over the life of the contract. We all agree he isn't a starting NBA forward, but he is rotation player for a market like the Cavs, signed through his prime.

I’m really curious to see what Toronto offers Fred Van Vleet......I hope Cavs make him a very aggressive offer.

He instantly makes Cavs a 6-8 seed with Drummond and Love at the 5 & 4 positions respectively. And Van Vleet plays excellent defense.

He’s a guy I’d definitely overpay for honestly.

I think if we get Van Vleet, we have to give up on Sexton or Garland. I'd love Fred on this squad but I think Toronto will pay him whatever he wants and make him the starting PG when Lowry is out (or injured). Fred and Siakam are the future of that team.

If we dumped Exum to one of the few teams with cap space, we could offer FVV up to 17M in the first year of a deal. Guessing TOR would match that?
