One silver lining if there is a season is that all of our players with injuries should be healed up by the time they'd get going. Naquin was reportedly close as is, Clase's 12 week timeline would put him at mid-to-late May, Clevinger looks ready now, and Carrasco's elbow will have plenty of time to heal. We would theoretically be ready to roll in what would amount to a pennant race from the start. I also think there's a chance, with doubleheaders mixed in, that teams may run with a 6 man rotation, or at least hang on to a 6th starter. This means Plutko may have a spot on this roster as a starter.

C-Perez
1B-Santana
2B-Hernandez
SS-Lindor
3B-Ramirez
LF-Luplow/Naquin platoon
CF-Mercado
RF-Reyes
DH-D. Santana/Bradley

Allen, Leon, Arroyo, Deshields Jr. are probably the rest of the position players

SP-Bieber/Clevinger/Carrasco/Civale/Plesac/Plutko

Bullpen-Hand/Wittgren/Clase/Karinchak/Perez/Cimber/Maton

One thing that's really interesting to watch is, if they do play, what happens with the trade deadline as the Indians have made a habit of adding a rental bat almost every summer.

The Indians will try to upgrade the roster when/if one position is struggling. I still like their trades the last few seasons for guys who are future guys as well (Mercado, as well as the Wood/Arroyo trade, even though Bimbo didn't like losing that prospect)

The answer, to me, is playing games with no fans at times. It sucks and it'd be weird, but a lot of fans follow baseball on TV anyhow and at least games would be played.

The players and owners apparently disagree :(:

I agree this is likely and it would be awesome for the Indians if they could start a shortened season at full strength. If there are a lot of doubleheaders it will be a huge advantage to the teams that are deep in starting pitching. We would probably have the best 4-5-6 starters in baseball, not to mention Bieber, Clev, and CC at the top.

The bullpens would really be important in a condensed schedule for obvious reasons. Teams lacking starting depth would be in a world of hurt because their relievers would have to pitch a lot of innings when their 4 through 6 starters got beat up, especially with very few off days. Bullpens would be super taxed except for teams that have six starters that can go deep into games. Add in the three batter rule and the premium would be on relievers who can go a couple of innings and be effective against hitters on both sides of the plate.

Instead of a guy pitching three times in three days and facing 1-2 batters each appearance we'll see guys pitching 2 innings and getting the next two days off. With managers unable to match specific pitchers against specific hitters the scoring will increase, especially in the late innings. Should be pretty exciting.

There would also be games when the 5th or 6th starter gets lit up early and the manager puts in his worst reliever to finish the game, needing to keep his best guys ready for the doubleheader tomorrow. We could see a lot more silly scores like 19-7.

I think teams should be more lenient as far as seating. IOW, if the park is one-third or one-half capacity, fans should be allowed to spread out and not have to sit in assigned seats. They could even block off alternate rows to create social distance.

See the asterisk footnote.

They absolutely do want to consider no-fan games.
If they were they would have said they would and not the first statement. That was the follow-up to cover the fan backlash.

I'm not sure playing into November is an option for the northern teams. The average high temperature in Cleveland in November is 52 with a low of 39. We average four inches of snow. Any games played in Cleveland in November would have to be day games and in the first week or two.

There has been some talk of making sure the World Series ends before the Presidential Election, although I'm not sure why that's important.

I'm all for larger rosters and double-headers, but I'm not sure the season should be extended more than a couple of weeks longer than normal. Also, neutral sites means empty stadiums, although there are a lot of Indians fans in Florida.

I think the current schedule should be scrapped and a new one drawn up that eliminates inter-league play and results in something like each team playing three 4-game series against its divisional opponents (48 games) and two 3-game series against the other 10 teams (60 games) for a total of 108 games with the season ending on time or possibly a couple of weeks later than usual. This assumes the season starts July 1 and ends Oct. 8 for a total of 100 days.

Another idea would be to eliminate night games like baseball was 100 years ago. That way teams would play at 1 p.m. and could travel to the next city after the game and play the following day. No need for travel days. The larger rosters would allow teams to give players days off.
