2020 Series 3 | Indians @ Twins | July 30-31 & August 1-2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's the over/under on the Tribe's run output for these 60 games? 100 runs seems too high.
What kind of odds will you give me on over 200 in the 60 game season?

Twins have the Cleveland Baseball Team's number. In a sprint like this, a sweep could be devastating to their playoff hopes. Offense continues to sputter. Reyes looks like the guy the Padres were cool with trading. Lindor giving off shades of LBJ vs BOS 2010. Bet he starts hitting with his hands switched or something from a 'shoulder injury'. The bottom of the lineup looks like a IL league lineup. Caesar Hernandez's one year here is going to be wasted. Other rants and whining. Hopefully they can recover some dignity if the season continues.

I tried telling you guys that this outfield platoon isn’t going to work. It’s just not good enough.

The outfield has been shockingly bad.

So the Twins have to scratch their starting pitcher, go with a bullpen day, and the Indians get two hits. In 8 of 9 innings they failed to get a hit and they had chances against 5-6 different pitchers. They've scored two runs in 20 innings against the Twins' bullpen.

It looked like the Twins were sitting on Civale's breaking stuff. Both Kepler's doubles were off breaking balls and so was the Garver home run. Civale adjusted and started throwing more heat, which did the trick. I was impressed in the sixth when he had to face the heart of the Twins order for the third time, which statistically is when hitters have the most success. He retired them 1-2-3.

If you told me before the series the Twins would score 10 runs in four games I would be thrilled, considering the quality of their hitters.

The Twins relievers have pitched (by my count) 37 innings in 8 games which equates to 4.6 innings per game and 750 innings over a full season. Their starters only pitched more than five innings one time. This would be a huge problem for them over a full season as the bullpen would be fried by the All-Star break, but in a 60-game season with an expanded roster it shouldn't be a big problem. The Twins got lucky.

Karinchak finally gave up a couple of hits but no runs and no walks. Nine career appearances and he still hasn't gotten into trouble by walking hitters. I'm encouraged. It was fun watching him strike out Buxton, Kepler, and Cruz.

The Twins are now 7-2.

Saddest part is the Twins will go to the postseason and get rekt.

You sit fast or you sit slow with him. And given no one seems to have much luck with his FB, I would sit slow.

CBs are the easiest pitch for a hitter to identify and give you the largest amount of time to adjust. Looked exactly like what Gonzales and Polanco did. Lucky Cruz didn't take the same approach with those ducks on a pond out there.

Just for fun, think of people we could put in the 6-9 slots in our lineup that would be an improvement, though they aren’t/weren’t baseball players or even athletes.

Batting 6th, the world’s heaviest man, whose name I won’t mention, as I don’t want to denigrate the guy. At over 1000 pounds, as he stands in the batter’s box, his midsection would protrude over the entire strike zone - pitchers would not be able to throw him a strike without hitting him with the pitch! He’d be Brandon Guyer times 100! Of course, you’d need to make sure the 7th batter doesn’t hit a ground ball, as our guy would probably not be very fast.

Who should bat 7th, 8th and 9th? And, to play fair, we can only use real people, not superheroes. Living or dead, male or female.

Have at it...

Where are Chisenhall and Puig when you need them? Nick Swisher anybody?

This offense is truly putrid right now. Putrid.

Take away that 9 run game and we’ve scored 14 runs in 9 games. 1.5 runs per game!

I get that we haven’t had a lot of base runners but how do we only have 2 steals so far? Top 3 in the order plus Zimmer and Mercado all have speed. In 10 games we’ve mustered 2 steals?

Gotta have people get on base to be able to steal. Not easy for us to do haha
