2020 Series 3 | Indians @ Twins | July 30-31 & August 1-2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There may be more to that supporting cast than batters 6-9. Granted, 6-9 are walking death.

I'm not sold on Reyes as a reliable hitter, but I do wonder if his being strictly a DH has messed
him up at the plate. He wouldn't be the first young hitter who couldn't adjust to the difference
from being in the field.

Of course, like many of the Tribe batters, he would benefit from learning to lay off the sliders and
change-ups that end up in the dirt off the plate.

I have confidence that Lindor and Jose will hit. Los will get on base and hit some. Hernandez seems like he’s gonna be ok. I believe Zimmer may be our big positive. But Reyes looks totally useless. Our catchers, especially with Roberto out, look like automatic outs. Mercado has no track record to rely on. Domingo may hit but may give up runs with his defense. Luplow might warm up and I have some confidence he’ll be ok. Dan Johnson is an unknown. My confidence in Naquin, once he’s back, is fairly high. But I don’t see this offense being “good” over the long haul of a short season. The pitching had better stay exceptional.

Six switch-hitters in a row. Never seen that before.

One thing for sure. If this team can't break out of the slumps at Great American launch pad...............

I know so many of you never thought we'd miss Naquin and DeSnields' so much.

Still do not "miss" DeShields, but Naquin has been quite good when he can stay on the field...miss him for sure.

Seven lefties plus Reyes and Mercado to face Sonny Gray. In his first two starts lefties are 1-for-16 against him. He's struck out 20 in 12.2 innings. I can see a lot of Tribesman trudging back to the dugout bat in hand tonight.

Big nights for the outfielders.. Johnson and Allen are clearly playing to earn more time. Mercado better start hitting/getting on base. I miss Plawecki.. I think...

cant miss what you never had or something like that

Votto cleared of virus and will play tonight.

Last years slightly below average offense featured a lot of at bats from guys named Cargo and Hanley and Bayer...and a non hitting JRam for much of the season, among others.

Our offense won't be elite, but it doesn't have to be with the pitching and defense. All it has to be is average, and it has too much talent not to be at least that.
