a 34 year old who hasn’t been good in 10 years wants to play :chuckle:

he probably wouldn’t even make the PS. I wonder if he’s been training.

Sounded to me like he was just giving a huge compliment to the OL, and to the scheme/play calling.

I agree it was a mostly ugly win on the defensive side of the ball. On the bright side, they didn't give up anything deep, and had good run defense. They were just obliterated in the short passing game.

I'd take that kind of offensive performance 10/10. Dominant run, and a massive 9.5 YPA on passing plays. That's a high bar.
I don't disagree.. but I think it's too early to say baker is fixed.. What got fixed offensively is the run game, where our two pro bowl level runners punished the defense. IMHO, Baker did not play star ball. He did his job mostly, but that's not the same.. If he gets his swagger back, we will be in every game regardless..

Defensively, I don't know how you fix it.. lots of injuries..

I wouldn’t be opposed to trading OBJ, but I certainly wouldn’t trade him just to trade him. The reality is, if Baker proves worthy of an extension, there’s no way we’re going to be able to keep Baker, Chubb, Hunt, OBJ, Hooper, and Landry long-term. That’s potentially half the cap tied up in six skill position players.

Given what we know of Stefanski’s offense, one out of Landry and OBJ won’t be here long-term. If OBJ could net us a good young starter at LB or S and maybe a 4th or 5th round pick, I’d be hard pressed not to do it.

I’m not trying to minimize OBJ’s impact or ability as a player, I just don’t think we can tie so much money into the skill positions and be able to cover other areas of need on the roster. Assuming Baker plays well, Baker, Hooper, Chubb, and Hunt are all far more essential to the offense than Landry or OBJ. I suspect come the start of the 2022 season one of OBJ or Landry will be gone, maybe even both.

To me, "fixed" implies a permanent solution, and we're clearly not there. But I think that what we saw last night was plenty good enough if he can do it comsistently. So that's what I'd say needs to be shown moving forward - consistently playing as well as he did last night.

Yeah, can’t call a guy “fixed” after one game against what might wind up being the worst defense in the league.

However, we don’t need Baker to win games for us. He doesn’t have to be a “game manager” necessarily, but with our line and RBs he just has to not make dumb, costly mistakes like he did much of last year. Some of that falls on play calling putting him in the right spots, but most of it falls on Baker not being careless with the football.

Browns will fall out of quite a few games this year because of the defense, but the running game should be able to keep them in striking distance as long as Baker plays within himself and trusts the line.

Just to be clear, I think Baker played well above "game-manager" level last night. His YPA was exceptional, and the only reason the totals weren't huge was because we ran more once we got the good lead.

I watched on my phone while playing the pixies for a Just-2 year old who can somehow now sing the chorus for “where is my mind?” So some details are absent from my viewing. Did Redwine get burn defensively?

I'm very interested in watching Washington vs. Arizona this Sunday. I think they have a good pass rush but I also think the numbers are a bit inflated due to facing an injury-ridden Eagles offensive line (who were also missing Miles Sanders so they had absolutely no rushing attack to try to mitigate the issue). It was a recipe for disaster.

Not guaranteeing a W or anything but I think we're gonna be a tough matchup for them with our ground attack.
