Out stealing home. A new low in Tribe base running blunders.
Did you have faith in Berto?

The offense is back to normal
I've noticed this trend on here lately. If Hand gives up a walk/hit it becomes an issue and it's like he has to 'work out of it' more often than not. The man is pitching better this year than any season he has had with us, and way better than anything Wickman ever did for us.Hand with another Wickmanesque Houdini act. You knew it wouldn't be easy. It never fails - after an offensive explosion the Indians are held to 0 or 1 run the next game every time. It didn't matter that they were facing a starter with a 9.27 ERA. It was feast yesterday so it had to be famine today.
Fortunately Plesac, Karinchak, and Hand were up to the task. Plesac had the third immaculate inning in franchise history, Karinchak struck out Miggy with two runners on despite being wild, and Hand somehow got out of the ninth unscathed. I never thought I'd see Karinchak not throw a single curveball, but it was all heat tonight.
I like Jordan Luplow's plate discipline. Two walks tonight and he also has good speed to run down balls in left.
Carlos Santana is down to .194 after a horse collar tonight. He has 8 hits in his last 52 at-bats for a .154 average. How much longer can they keep him in the cleanup spot? Unfortunately there is nobody else. Reyes is just as cold as Santana. There's a huge hole in the middle of our batting order and we're running out of time before the playoffs start.
Hosey would have been safe on that attempted steal of home if he went right for the plate but he swerved to the side and tried to slide away from the tag and reach back to touch the base. A straight in slide would have beat the tag.
The Mariners are down 5-0 in the 4th so we could have a playoff spot clinched by Sunday and be in a position to align our starters for the playoffs.
The book on Hand..when he gets ahead in the count to RHH's.. look for the back foot slider.. Throwing a FB down the middle should be the LAST thing this rookie should have been looking for.. It was just too hittable..i.e. a mistake..I can't believe Hand was facing a rookie who was 1-for-27, had him down in the count 0-2 and still threw him a fastball dead center. What was he thinking? This rook is going to be concerned with protecting the plate so tease him with a breaking ball or two off the edge. Throw him a back foot slider. But a fastball right down the middle? How stupid was that?
Fortunately Hand was able to strike out the next two batters on sliders in the dirt which is what he should have thrown Daz Cameron with an 0-2 count.
I'm sure a fastball down the middle WAS the last thing he was looking for. I'm sure he was surprised as hell. The book on Hand..when he gets ahead in the count to RHH's.. look for the back foot slider..
