#Indians have re-signed 30yr old LHP Anthony Gose to a minor league contract for the 2021 season w/ an invite to spring training. Gose a former OF w/ 372 MLB games under his belt before making transition to pitcher after the 2016 season. He has upper 90's fastball touches 100mph.

I'm extremely happy to hear this. Thanks!

After the Clevinger and Kluber trades, I'd be extremely reluctant to trade with the Indians for any veteran pitchers.

Great job in getting what they got for Clevinger just weeks before he went down with what could be a career ending injury.

The Kluber and Lindor situations are completely different from Jose. The Indians were in a position of strength in the rotation when they first started shopping him in the winter of 2018, and he had begun to show signs of decline. Lindor is only being traded because the team has failed to reach an extension with him over the years. Jose is coming off of an MVP season and under an insanely team friendly deal for three more seasons, while being literally the only consistent hitter in the lineup once Lindor is dealt.

It all depends on Jose really. Does he want top dollar like Lindor? If yes, he'll 100% be traded at some point. If he's willing to take a more team-friendly deal, maybe he sticks around beyond 2023. He'll be 31 when he hits free agency, so any ask over 3-4 years won't (and probably shouldn't) happen.

I do think Nolan Jones learning the outfield is a sign they intend to keep him for now though.

Wonder what the trade return would have been if we were trying to trade him this offseason with heading into Tommy John surgery?

Hope he recovers strongly though and does well in the future
Wish him the best. But glad we traded him. We got a lot for him

The adage holds.. it's always better for a team to trade a guy a year too early than a year too late.. 2022 would be the "just right" year for Jose Ramirez.. From your earlier comments on this and other threads.. it would not surprise you (or me) if the Indians, in the midst of the distraction that trading Francisco Lindor is and will become, will entertain a trade proposal or two regarding Jose.

After the projected $ 21 MM for Francisco Lindor, the Indians have only three players with contracts that amount to significant dollars past the 2021 season.. This gives the Indians a relatively clean financial slate for future extensions (Bieber?) or continuing to thread the needle of both fiscal restraint and being competitive. With the youngsters coming from the minor league system (bullpen pieces seem to be the only area not being 'listed' names like Vargas & Hentges as bull pen stalwarts) and the youth of the core talent.. the Indians should be relevant for the foreseeable four to six years.. As early as 2022 but more likely in 2023 through 2026, the Indians should be poised to offer the first REAL chance at being more than playoff participants, imho..

2021 should be a GOOD team.. if the Tribes gets a little good fortune to shine on them during this gloomy time.. they could be more.....

Thoughts?
If Jose has a solid 2021 I would move him. Trading that production with friendly contract to a team that would control him would net a big haul
I am fine with it. Imo we had Jose and lindor for the best years of their careers

While I am about 80 % / 20 % on this issue.. I am of the opinion that IF the indians are going to send Lindor away.. then JRam being on his way should also be part of the paring of the ML roster.

The caveat in all this.. is the return.. The Indians primary business is not operating a charity.. A return commensurate of the talent being traded is essential.

BTW.. I don't call this blowing it up.. I call it blowing it away.. Thoughts?.

Obviously do not want this to happen. An interesting wrinkle to it if it did though is apparently Chernoffs dad runs or owns one of the major NYC sports radio stations, 660AM. I can imagine that gettin awkward the first time the Mets underachieve or make a trade their fans don’t like

I'm extremely happy to hear this. Thanks!

Sounds like he is going to get a chance to make the ball club. The question is does he have at least decent control now? Its not often you see a lefty that can throw as hard as him.

Has a manager or FO exec ever been included in a trade package with a superstar? I’m guessing Morosi was just having fun with that tweet but still it would be pretty wild to send out a superstar and our GM together in a trade

If Chernoff goes who's next man up? I'd be more worried about it if we didn't have the well earned reputation for developing front office talent.

And the return signings continue...
Another tip of the cap to Indians Prospetive twitter account for the news..
