Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I really want to know what Baker has in common with those guys...other than being undersized?

Undersized and all QB's from warm weather areas who play in a division with 4 outdoor stadiums and by far the worst weather conditions in the league. I think The AFC North is actually the worst weather division in the league.

Now I'm not saying that undersized QB's from warm weather places can't play in this division. It's just less than ideal.

If Baker was a girl you knew in college he’d be the one that looked pretty hot at the gym, looked great dressed as a ho at the bars and even looked cute in the morning in pyjamas.

But one morning just after you started fucking her... you and some buddies were walking by the women’s bathroom, she walked out by herself and an absolutely rancid Taco Bell dump smell flew into the hall with her.

Your buddies reminded you of the morning dump every time they saw her at the gym, every time they saw her at the bar and that’s really all anyone said about her for the rest of college.

Maybe they were jealous. Maybe they were just idiots. Didn’t matter. The image was sealed.

But regardless, as far as this thread goes...he’s become the hot girl that took the morning dump.

The following is an EXCELLENT breakdown of some of Baker's throws during the Jags game, as well as that huge miss to Higgins in the endzone. QC does a tremendous job here. I do think Baker is still a helluva accurate QB who gets almost no credit for his good plays, both within our fanbase and outside of it.

Watch this everyone, incredible breakdown

I love the fact that he tells his viewers that basic counting stats, like completion percentage, are worthless.

I agree with him completely that Baker is an accurate quarterback. Again, that's his strength. He is one of the most accurate QB's in the game.

He has thrown more inaccurate passes this year than in the past. Call it an accuracy issue. Call it a consistency issue. However you phrase it, that's the problem that I see that should be the next item that he and the coaching staff address. I believe it stems from his footwork, as his accurate throws here come from solid bases, or Baker rolling out. The inaccurate throws come from when he lacks that solid base inside the pocket.

When I say there's something obvious like this, that doesn't mean that Baker isn't good, or didn't have a "good" game, or that he can't be the QB of the future. It just means that this is a weakness. Hell, I have Aaron Rodgers as a top-10 QB all time, and he's had glaring weaknesses that he refused to change for years in Green Bay.

If there are fans out there yelling that Baker can't possibly be the QB of the future, and the Browns need to draft a QB in this year's draft, then they're idiots.

If there are fans out there saying Baker is for sure the franchise guy, flawless, and should never be criticized, they're not bright either.

Counting stats isn’t “worthless” if you apply context to the stats.

Just stats can be misleading but even then they aren’t worthless... it’s a solid starting point to look at.

My god could you imagine the backlash Baker would get for throwing that exact same INT as Ben just did on 4th and goal.

LMAO I just had that thought. I'm looking at other sports forums and no one is making a peep about it.

That was a HORRIFIC throw.

And he nearly did it again now!
Settled for a field goal after failing to convert in the red zone. Not a great game for Ben so far.

Baker has played better than Ben this year by a decently wide margin.

If we had Pittsburgh defense, we would be the best team in the NFL

Any team with a half decent offense and Pittsburgh’s D would be the best team in the NFL.

Last year Steelers had one of the worst offenses in the league, but still finished 8-8 because their defense was that good.

What makes you say this?

What makes you say this?

He really hasn't been good the last 5 weeks while Baker keeps getting better this season. If you watch the games, Pittsburgh does a ton of screens and and easy throws and ben has missed allot, hasn't been that accurate. Even the stats QBR has Ben behind Baker, but overall Ben has done less to his teams wins than Baker has. You are seeing how average Ben has been this year.

This game is a poor barometer. Neither team is prepared to play on Wednesday afternoon. And it shows.
