Not going to mention all the good things he does thats been said, but I'd like to see better rebounding numbers.
I don't think you're going to. He is so locked in on defending guys on the perimeter that he's rarely going to be in good position for a rebound.

I just want him to enjoy better stats because all the little things that he does do not register. I don't think it matters that much because i'm pretty sure we rebound well with him on the floor, but just give my man more impressive stat lines.

If Okoro was like 2-3 inches taller... man oh man. I'd pump him up with GH 24/7.

Bickerstaff sounds almost giddy talking about this kid. And he's been coaching in the NBA since 2004. This is not his first rodeo.

Advanced stats are useful but have their limits.

Coach mentioned previously that Okoro’s best attribute is that he’s a winner, and we’ve seen that already more than once in a very small sample size.

I am aware there are some people who don’t think winning is an individual skill.

Agreed. Making winning decisions is absolutely a skill, and is ultimately the over-arching goal of advanced stats/analytics attempts to quantify that skill. Okoro makes winning decisions on the floor constantly. They obviously pop off the screen late in a close game, but you see them from the tip.

I'm really looking forward to his jumper coming around, he's a sure fire front line NBA starter/borderline All Star wing in the NBA once that jumper is in place.

His advanced stats may not look good right now, but to me he clearly impacts winning right now. Advanced stats be damned..

I thought the 24 second heave Okoro had from 26 ft or so (didnt count) was one of the most impressive and promising plays of the night. He didn't have a chance to get set but his form was still good and the shot was pure as hell.

This just really stands out. He rarely makes mistakes. He makes decisions quickly and he plays to help the team.

You'd like to see him be more aggressive offensively, but this is exactly the type of role that allowed Kawhi to learn the game at his pace while playing great D/. He is already impacting winning the way he knows how, and has been opportunistic when he has the chance to score.

I'd prefer he was taking it to the hoop more, but I get the feeling he is still just figuring it out and finding the weaknesses and where he can be effective. He shut Dillon Brooks down and chased him through 100 screens. Just really impressive to see a rook that is this advanced defensively. It really makes you wonder how good he can be there once he has actually learned the league.

Okoro looks like the absolute real deal.

To have a rookie guard be an impactful defensive player is VERY rare. Most rookie guards are particularly useless if they aren't making shots. But he isn't.

And then, on the other end, it's not like he's Tony Allen coming into the league. He has ways to go on offense, but he clearly has a pretty high ceiling there.

I feel like he SHOULD be the Cavs best draft pick since Irving. Maybe putting too much pressure on him when I say that.

Kawhi is a very good comparison at this point. God I feel stupid saying that this early. I never try and get too hyped this early in the season.

It's way too early to say how he turns out, but I do think their motor and the type of player they are is very similar. That super defensive awareness/vision is totally there.

The role they are asked to play on the two teams is similar as well. Lock down your defensive assignment, and be opportunistic offensively without the ball. Not much pressure offensively.

So excited for him but just a word of caution looking ahead: the Greek Freak is a different kind of dragon, the likes of which Okoro has never played against.

I don’t expect Okoro to shut him down or light it up on offense, I just hope that he is up for the challenge, for every minute that he is in the floor. Meaning when things go wrong, he has a short memory, and when things go right, he holds on to that belief.

Okoro is still a kid, and he’s a special young man, and this is the game where he will be up against something all together different.

As fans, please have patience and enjoy the little victories as he gets the hang of it. I am excited for what he has done, and excited to see if he can remain this fired up against Milwaukee.

He's at a severe size disadvantage here.

My guess is we see Okoro on Middleton more and Larry on Giannis.

This is a bad matchup for the Cavs. I am really just looking for them to keep the Bucks as far under their scoring average as possible
