PLAYOFF GAME #2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It’s disingenuous to assume that you don’t get the ball back. Without a total collapse of the defense (which is what happened), you would’ve gotten the ball back.

And the 15% chance they convert 9 yards on the play doesn’t overrule the 85% chance they don’t, the Chiefs waltz to a TD and the game is over.

The punt by itself wasn’t a bad call, not having at least 2 timeouts when doing it was.

You're missing the point.

If you're afraid that "the Chiefs could to waltz to game-sealing a TD on a short field", then why the hell are you comfortable giving them the ball period? What difference does it make where they have the football if we're that concerned they might score a touchdown from the Browns 32.

Can I give Mr. Hollywood some love. He had a costly fumble at the end of the half, but kept his head right and kept going and making plays.
Showed a lot of maturity and trust there.

Like many, my first reaction was anger... but Higgins was whacked in a way that is not legal in today's game.

Just a really unfortunate play.

Higgins is an interesting dude this offseason.

His value league wide probably isn't amazing... but his value as far as his chemistry with Baker is high to us.

I think he genuinely enjoys being here so I imagine we work something out.

Thats on the NFL. Also the incompletion that all my friends are bitching at stefanski for not throwing the flag. NFL needs to fjgure out how to make a call everyone one the couch can make in 5 seconds.

Ok I’m done lol. We called Final TO after this play. Didn’t challenge - which at worst is a TO.

THIS is the one I think people should be upset about.

Stefanski had a TO and a challenge.

Instead of throwing the challenge flag, he used his last TO. Which..made no sense. Throw the challenge flag. Because you can't use it after your last TO anyway.

It seems pretty clear that some’s first instinct was going to be to complain if the Browns did anything less than win the SB this year. That’s a bummer.

If we’re looking back on this as The Browns’ best chance, then something between now and that time will have gone very, very wrong, and we’ll be more focused on that atrocity than the Browns going 11-5 and losing a tight one to the defending champs.

Yes. That grainy ass photo still means nothing. He clearly had the first down.

No question
How about this one? No question you should be thinkin’ of gettin’ thicker glasses Mrs. Riley.

Wow, great game guys. Really wish they wouldn’t have concussed Mahomes though :chuckle: Going to be hard to beat the Bills without him but that’s tomorrow’s problem.

Much credit to Stefanski and this Browns team. It would’ve been easy to roll over and quit after the pick to start the second half but they never gave up. It’s incredible how much different this Browns team looks vs. just last season. You all have found your coach now and the future is bright!

I checked into this thread from time to time to see what everyone was saying. A few frustrations about not matching up to the Chiefs, but it’s important to remember that progress is 1% at a time. In 2015 the Chiefs got their first playoff win in 22 years and I was fired up for them to win in New England in the division round. They ultimately lost by 7 and lost the next couple playoff games, but built a foundation that led to a SB last year. It happens season by season, 1% at a time and the Cleveland Browns made an improvement today. Be happy fellas, the future is bright and there will be more Chiefs/Browns playoffs matchups to come!

For those of you that made the RCF bet I appreciate you stepping up. I shot Ben a message and will send a link shortly. This is a great community thanks to members like you!

absolutely nothing guaranteed. Browns could be 5-11 next year for all we know. Reminds me of cubs fans sucking the indians off in 2016. Havent won a playoff series since.

Even so. It's close.

So then....throw your last challenge flag if you're gonna use the TO anyway. Which he did. he called TO right after that play. Sooooo.....it made no sense not to throw the flag.
He “clearly” had it though.

I trust Baker Mayfield to convert a do or die play for 9 yards more than I trust THIS Browns defense to not give up two third downs to any NFL QB. Maybe in future seasons the defense will be better and I won't feel that way, but not this year.

I'm not being a prisoner of the moment. The Browns defense has been remarkably poor all year long. They had just given up two long chunk pass plays to Henne on the previous possession.

Just give your QB the chance. If he doesn't make it happen, you're still in the same defensive position of needing to NOT give up two first downs anyway.

And maybe they kick a FG to go up 8, but the Browns *still* have a chance to tie anyway, plus Butker had already missed 2 kicks too, so it wasn't like he was having the greatest day of his life either.

The defense defended the Chad Henne led offense better than Baker Mayfield moved the ball against their defense. Which is sad in itself, but still true. I don't think Baker even threw a pass over 9 yards in the second half.

There was a better chance of KC fumbling a snap and the Browns recovering it than there was that they convert 4th and 9.

Did they though?

The Chiefs converted 6 first downs in 2.5 possessions with Henne under center. I think people are dramatically overvaluing that one arm punt INT and making it out like Henne was playing terrible when he actually wasn't.

And Mayfield completed a 17 yard pass to Higgins on the drive right before the Browns last punt drive.

I’m comfortable giving them the ball because I have greater confidence in stopping them having to get 80 yards then stopping them from getting 30. What’s there not to get? One task is significantly easier than the other.

It is, but look. Aaron Rodgers has been to 1 super bowl. Peyton Manning 4.

So my point here, I guess, is that it's not like the NBA. Even the very, very best QBs rarely can get on some type of run that they go to 4-5 straight superbowls. There's gonna be years where they get beat and the Browns won't even play them.

I mean the Steelers won 2 and made another yet NEVER beat the Patriots in the playoffs doing it. They just avoided them those years. So, that shit happens pretty regularly.

If I have one big criticism of Stefanski its that he came out, right away, not trying to establish the run. No idea why the plan wasn't to just keep the ball away from Mahomes.

I mean people were saying the Browns were only averaging 3 yards a run in the 1st half but Chubb only ran the ball 5 times.

Didn't get that.
This made me feel better. Thanks. DM your address if you’re interested in chocolate covered fruits

This is all well and good and would be completely correct, except for the fact they didn't have to get 80 yards, they only had to get 20 yards to end the game.

They only had to convert 2 first downs for the game to be over in either scenario. Where they were on the field isn't nearly as important as them possessing the football.
