Game Thread 2020-21 Season | Game #15 | Brooklyn @ Cleveland | January 22, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some are wondering what will happen down the stretch when Love is healthy and when Allen has shown he is better than Drummond. Coach needs to sit down with Love and Drummond and just tell them straight up that the team has other players that are as good as them, but that they are still needed. They can either sulk or be part of a ten-person rotation that goes hard for 48 minutes. Love's body can probably only handle half the game, actually, and if Drummond plays all out, 24 minutes is enough for him, too. This team can play with most any other team in the East right now, and it is only going to get better. Love and Drummond have been around long enough to see that. Keep both of them and use them -- no reason for us to wait until next year. We have the players we need to compete now.

MInutes:
PG, SG: Sexton 36, Garland 30, Dotson 6
SG, SF: Okoro 24, Osman 16, Windler 12, Prince 20
PF: Love 24, Nance 24
C: Allen 24, Drummond 24

We are like a legion. If all are healthy, there is no significant drop off from our starters to the bench. We can go 110 percent on defense the whole game.
When they stagger Garland and Sexton, it really isn't clear whether starters or bench players are in.

And when Sexton has decent vision, it allows the team to be effective with him at point and Garland on the bench.

Cavs are a legit team when healthy.

W/o Durant, the Nets are pretty thin at this point. That bench isn't good anymore.

We probably wouldn't win in the PO because it's more of a half court game, and I'm not sure we can handle those 3 guys for 48 minutes in that type of game.
But I'm more hopeful we could win than I've ever been I think.

In the playoffs where the referees allow more physicality on defense and a best of 7 series? The cavs will wear them down with the number of bodies they can throw at them and will have fresher legs starting at game 3.

Don't count it out.

I just think they have way too much talent to match our grit. But hey, I would LOVE to be wrong.

This is what I didn't get about the Nets move.

The Kyrie+Durant pairing was JUST put together.

Why not give that duo a chance to win, w/ a legit team around them, before trading away all of your good players and all of your picks from now until 2050?

So impatient.

Legitimately 11 deep when Love comes back. It was weird to see Dotson fall out of the rotation for the night through no fault of his own. And I have no issue with the rotation - there just isn’t enough minutes to go around when everyone is playing efficient and playing hard.

If Drummond could stop forcing the offense, stop sulking, actually set a screen, immediately hand the ball off to a guard after grabbing a rebound and hustle back on defense we’d be even so much better. I will give him credit, his second half helped us win the game.
