Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Having Drummond sit out definitely is killing his value. If teams wanted him for a trial run or rental, they most likely are thinking why even risk it. The front office really doesn't seem to put in any forethought to some of this stuff. I get the trade to bring in Allen and wanting to maintain a good culture but being able to anticipation potential problems would probably go a long way to helping maintain that culture.

I am starting to think there was a trade that fell through. They said he was warming up for the game, can't remember if it was Clippers or Warriors and he went back to the lockerroom and when he came out he was in street clothes. Says to me that they sat him to be traded and then he wasn't.

If we know he wasn't responding to coaching and being a good teammate, other teams do too.

It annoys me that the Cavs can't act as if they are a normal organization.

im starting to think Larry Nance has a lot more to do with that then Andre Drummond

I agree that Nance was probably a larger factor than I originally thought, but Drummond was mostly not letting guys get to the basket, and then he was.

100% agree that the team fell apart after Nance got injured.
Drummond was useful at the beginning of the season when he was playing for a contract and blocking shots. Offensively he was always trying to do too much and not doing little things like setting screens but the Cavs could live with it.

His body language got toxic on the court during that last road trip though. He visibly quit esp after it became clear the Cavs were going to roll with Allen moving forward. I don't see anyway he could've raise his trade value with that kind of body language on the court. There is 9 years of film on Drummond at this point so teams already know what they are going to get.

Or he was told before the game that JBB wanted him to come off the bench and he wanted nothing to do with that. He seems to have an ego that wouldn't allow for him to be a professional and except the role the team wanted from him.

Definitely agree that I wish we would keep these things better under wraps or handle it better as an organization. It only hurts us in the long run.

Yeah it sucks, but I am also questioning how good Allen's D really is when OKC drops 117
Cavs need more than just Allen to defend. The rest of them need to play D instead of just letting their man go buy. If you watch Cedi is just as guilty.

Something weird? It doesn't help his value, so the question is why do it this way?

I agree, and I am pretty optimistic about he Nance and Allen pairing or even Allen and Love over Cedi.

Cedi is an enigma to me because he was known for his defense when he showed up. I think his defense on guards is better. In some ways he has good court awareness, but in other terrible.

I think Allen was coming up too high?

Also, how many years in a row do we have to see Cedi put in a position as a PF that just doesn't suit him? I understand why people on the board are clamoring for Dean Wade considering he's the only healthy PF we currently have. Still a disjointed roster that hopefully gets cleaned up soon.

Personally, I'm not convinced he had value to damage.

However, if you do, I understand why you'd be frustrated by this.

His value was always his expiring contract. If no one is willing to part with assets to dump future salary, then Drummond has no trade market.

Allen is a very good rim protector - which is great since its his primary role. He still has a ways to go once he gets pulled away from the basket.

Yeah I mean I understand that, but isn't a good locker room guy easier to talk yourself into? Even as an expiring. It feels like the Cavs shoot themselves in the foot with these things. It's not a good look and isn't good for future free agents etc

Cedi should never be playing PF unless half the players go injured reserve.

I'm not sure a year of playing nice for the Cavs would have repaired the rep he had coming from Detroit (fair or not)
