It certainly helps when the guys taking outside shots are good on the catch and shoot & Allen didn’t miss any bunnies in the paint. And people are actually making open shots...

yep. rockets looked like what the cavs are just a few days ago.Good game but I’m not getting overly excited beating a team that had lost 9 in a row coming in! ;(
I, for one, prefer not to look a gift horse in the mouth.Good game but I’m not getting overly excited beating a team that had lost 9 in a row coming in! ;(
Does Sexton have small hands? I'm asking seriously. It is weird how poor his dribble is.
Why no Wade
He kept the ball moving and the offense looked synced up with him out there. He didnt get abused at all in the 1st qtr
Doesnt make sense
Hard to coach with Sexland struggling. If Garland had hit 2-3 3's, the Cavs would be ok. Quite a Harry Dunne laughing moment for Darius
Been waiting for Winder to shoot and shoot and hit.Windler was the oldest Cav on the floor to close out the game. Good to see the youngsters close it out
Cavs needed that win. Needed to see Windler, Garland, and Sexton making and taking threes. And if Allen makes one (which he did), it's a bonus. The Prince/Wade switch looked good. Lamar Stevens came in for a few minutes and did some good things.
More of this.
Wade was surprisingly competent on defense. He also grabbed a few boards, didn't try to do too much on offense, and knocked down his open 3's.Seems pretty clear you shouldn't go small at PF with Sexland and Okoro. Just having a bigger body in Wade that knows the position and isn't a turnstile on defense makes the starting unit hum
Well, we've found the key to success. The Cavs are 2-0 when Windler and Allen hit 100% of their 3's.
Turns out Oladipo and Gordon played but it didn't do any good. The Cavs won the second half 64-46 in a dominating performance. The Cavs took advantage of the Rockets' lack of height to outrebound them 55-33. They blocked 10 shots for the second consecutive game. They held the Rockets to 40.0% from the field and 30.3% on 3's. Overall a solid defensive performance.
Offensively the Cavs hit 50.6% overall and 44.4% on 3's. The only problem was 16 turnovers, half of which were by Garland. Darius has struggled the last two games. Tonight he was 4-for-14 from the field and had 8 turnovers. The Rockets were very quick and aggressive on defense but had no answer for Jarrett Allen, who finished with 26 pts, 18 rebounds, and 4 blocks. He's in the process of making himself a lot of money.
The reserves are continuing to provide solid support. Windler has now made nine consecutive threes and is threatening Kyrie Irving's franchise record of 11. Cedi was a +16 in 21 minutes. Dean Wade was quietly efficient, going 4-for-4 and ending up with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a +18 in 20 minutes.
I always liked David Nwaba when he was a Cavalier and he's better now. Tonight he had 12 points, 2 rebounds, a steal, and 2 blocks in 17 minutes. I wouldn't mind getting him back in place of Dotson.
So the Cavs are now on a winning streak, one that will surely end Saturday against the Sixers. But 22 of their remaining 37 games after that are against teams with losing records. The rookies are gaining confidence, Allen is turning into a monster, and Nance will get back next month. We should be seeing more close games in the second half.
