It seems like forever since we had a credible big man who wasn't deeply flawed or over the hill. And for the record as far as I'm concerned, fuck small ball and "position-less" basketball.

Its the most excited I've been about a young Cavaliers big since year 2 Carlos Boozer... gotta lock this one up! You won't hear me griping about the timing of his emergence and how we'll have to tie up more money in him. If he earns a max, we should ecstatic to have the opportunity to pay it. Koby made a shrewd trade that will change the trajectory of the rebuild if Allen has earned himself a max contract by the end of the season.

I absolutely love Allen, but dont forget the last 2 games were against some bad teams one that was guarding Jarrett with guys 6'6 and under.

I dont think we have to worry about Max, but he can play himself into a 25 mill a year, but give him 5 and 125, starting at 20 mill and going up, we cant lose this guy and at the end when he is making 30 mill with a much higher cap he will look like a bargain.

20 mill a year might be too low now.

Just don't get cute and give him whatever his agent asks for. He's the most valuable big man the team has had in several decades. He's good for the team culture and has almost every skill a team could want. Plus he's hella young. The team isn't a free agent destination so it's not like he'd hamper getting anyone else of interest.

I know we are made at Love right now, but he was part of a big 3 that won us a championship, until Allen helps win us a championship Kevin Love will remain the most important big man of all time for the Cavs....unless you consider Lebron a big man.

I'm not mad at Kevin Love. He has zero value in the NBA, though. He might have played an important role for a championship, but his value isn't there (just like it's not there for Tristan). Who would give up assets for Love? Who would give up assets for Allen?

I think Sexton’s upcoming payday overlaps Love’s last year. If so, it’s going to be expensive to have Love, Sexton and Allen all together. Love is around 29 mil that last year. Do Sexton and Allen get at least 25 each? That would be close to 80 mil in 3 players.

He is valueless now, but 5 years ago, he was the most valuable big man in the history of the Cavs. Not sure what his value today has to do with his value to this orginization since the begining.

For one year you can live with it. What you can’t do it tie up salary cap space long term for marginal talent or injured players once we need to start extending good players. It didn’t matter so much with Love because we weren’t using the space for anything else. It will matter in two - three years. That’s why I’m not interested in taking on overpriced long term problem like Wiggins or KP.

Just sign him to a supermax already after this article lol. Wouldn't be surprised seeing him coming with a cape on to practice now.

Exciting stuff from Bickerstaff on Allen:

At 22 years old, he’s not near his potential ceiling yet. That’s the part I’m most excited about. He knows there’s room for growth and there’s a high ceiling for him. He’s willing to put in the work and he’s trying different things, not just staying in his box. I think there’s a lot of room for Jarrett. I think there’s a lot there that we can tap into. Help him become a better player and kind of open him up, kind of unlock his game and give him that confidence and freedom to do more than maybe he’s done in the past.

Mann that pass to Okoro for the corner 3 was awesome. Such talented guy and his presence on defense is outstanding. I know he is working on his outside shot but I feel he is going to get even better offensively. He is the best big man we have had since Z.
