Just have a field goal competition at that point. Start at the 25yd line then drop back 10 yards until 55 yds. Then repeat until someone misses.
The way I'd personally prefer overtime to work is similar to college. You get the ball at around midfield and get to drive it down. If you don't score, the other team can win with a field goal or a touchdown. If you do score, the other team gets a chance to match it. If they do, repeat. I think the other team should always have a chance to match, though, even on a touchdown. If one team happens to be up when the ten minutes are up as a result of the teams going back and forth for the entire overtime period, they win. If the score is tied at the end of ten minutes, it's a tie.
I think that would be a hell of a lot more exciting than the current overtime set-up.
