Holy shit this trailer has me super pumped to watch this show.

The entire time i’m watching this trailer i’m thinking, “This is a TV show!!” Have you ever seen a TV show with this high of an action budget?! This is like some John Wick shit!

I've seen, conservatively, eight different trailers for this and I still have absolutely no idea what it's going to be about.

Bettany has always wanted to act with himself, double vision. Not too confusing.

I think it's supposed to be about Falcon and Winter Soldier. At least, that's what I've garnered from the trailers.

Baron Zemo sighting in there too.

I think he can be a very good villain, I thought he was an effective antagonist in Civil War.

Not all villains are superpowered.

Wonder if he'll have the glue gun?

Wandavision far outperformed my expectations going in, even if it may have fizzled out a bit at towards the end. But the show was always in place to setup the rest of the timeline going forward, so it's easy to look past an average finale.

From my perspective, Bettany and Olson may have hyped up too much. Bettany teased a cameo of an actor he always wanted to work with, which set the internet abuzz speculating who that may have been. And Olson teased a scene that would rival the a certain moment in the finale of Mandalorian Season 2. Bettany was trolling and I think Olson's words were taken out of context a bit, but regardless, I think they helped set expectations maybe a bit too high.

One of the most fun things about these week-to-week shows are the speculation, fan theories, online discussion, etc. But they have pitfalls of their own. I remember reading dozens of awesome GoT fan theories before the final season that somehow made the final season even more disappointing. And people nailed Agatha from about the first episode, which took away from that reveal a bit.

I'm not overly excited for Falcon and The Winter Solider, but I think Marvel has earned the benefit of the doubt in the material that they release. More than anything I'm just excited for a new weekly show and additional Marvel content. COVID has taken away that every few months new content that we got used to in previous years.
Was there a consensus as to a finale fizzle? I did not think that at all. I loved the unique/bold vision of a series from start to finish. It kept me guessing, and though I read a number of the theories, I never became too hung up on any. That said, a Dr. Strange cameo would not have been out of place :chuckle: .

My favorite kinds of trailers. Maximum Hype. Minimal amount of plot reveal.

Mission accomplished with me. Can't wait to watch this thing. I'm excited for a more down-to-earth story after the magical train ride that was WandaVision (not complaining, loved WandaVision too).

Sort of like WandaVision then...

Yeah, but that kind of made some sense because the whole premise of the show for the first three episodes was that something was wrong but we didn't know what and were being fed little clues.

This one seems like a much more straightforward story, but the trailers are equally nonsensical.

People make the jokes that all MCU movies are the same, and I get it, but there's also some variance. Winter Soldier was a spy movie, Ant Man was a heist film, Guardians/Ragnorak were heavy on the comedy, etc. They had Infinity War come out, then after seeing have the universe dissolve, they follow it up with the 2nd Ant Man movie, which was a light hearted comedy. They do well and swerving just enough between projects to keep things fresh, IMO.

WandaVision was just a total mindfuck at points. Falcon/Winter Soldier seems like a much more straight forward action series. And then Loki looks like another mindfuck. And I am looking forward to all of it.

The issue I have with Marvel is that almost all the movies tend to end with a giant CGI fight with a sky beam. That, to me, was the most disappointing aspect of WandaVision. It tricked us into thinking it was something different before devolving into the same dumb Marvel movie ending.

Well, I mean Disney can only be so creative before they are contractually obligated to fall back into tried and true tropes.

First trailer I’ve seen that actually gets me excited.

I really enjoyed the first episode of Falcon & the Winter Soldier. These shows really allow Marvel to flesh out the MCU's secondary characters in a way that just isn't possible in movies that have to focus more on the main guys. We basically knew nothing of either of these guys' lives outside of their hero personas prior to this series, so it's nice to get to see them as actual people rather than sidekicks.

The opening action scene is one of the more impressive set pieces I've seen in a TV show. I do wish they'd have dropped two episodes to start, though, because this one ends right when it's getting really interesting.

This feels like it's pretty much just going to be a really long Marvel movie, and I'm fine with that.
