This is the one 'flaw' with Disney+, releasing these shows weekly instead of all at once.

I think these streaming services have realized that the way to make shows a cultural phenomenon is to release them weekly. Just think...how many Netflix shows have the cultural footprint of Game of Thrones? How many of them have had people spending hours online predicting what will happen like with Watchmen? None. Because people binge new seasons in a day or two, talk about them for a week, then move on to the next one.

Weekly releases give viewers time to process, discuss, and theorize in a way that dropping shows all at once doesn't do.

I have to be honest. Falcon and winter soldier is not floating my boat. Just seems underwhelming. Lacks something that I can't quite put my finger on... Could be that it's acting like it's raising the stakes but it's not delivering

'New Cap' reminds me of Jonah from VEEP and once you see it, you can't un-see it.

Same.

I think the problem for me is that it's actually trying to be a superhero series rather than a true buddy-cop type of show that could have succeeded around these characters. It has some of that, but it just feels tacked on. Falcon and Bucky are C tier heroes and just aren't that interesting. If the show had some really great acting performances it could easily overcome this, but it's been pretty mediocre so far. Not bad, just meh. Production quality is obviously high and it looks and feels like Marvel, it's just missing the meat on the bones. Its not overcoming the fact that the show is based on supporting characters that hardly anyone really cares about.

Compare this to WandaVision, which had some legitimately good performances from Olsen, Bettany and Hahn, and it becomes even more apparent.

This looks very good

Interesting. I thought we might get a "Loki does the Galaxy with the Space Stone" but this seems ok too.

Just finished the fourth episode and I think that was the best episode so far. It delved a bit more into the motivations of the Flag Smashers, which was nice to see. Zemo continues to be the absolute best part of this show, and I'll be devastated if this doesn't result in a Thunderbolts movie or series at some point. Loved when he was just chilling and drinking whiskey while watching everyone fight in the hotel room.

Also loved the final image of Cap with the bloody shield. That has to be an homage to a comic book panel, right?

I actually agree with the show underwhelming posts till Zemo showed up: he's like the Bizzarro batman - evil rich dude but with personality. Well Batman's personality can be a bit underwhelming vs the wonderfully droll Zemo. Well you know a character is good when you're having hard time finding the right comparison

I also like that Zemo is a man of principles. He could have easily taken the super soldier serum for himself, but instead he immediately stomped on all the samples. Well, all but the one that rolled away that new Cap found.

I don't consider Zemo to be evil, by the way. He has a legitimate reason for doing what he's doing.

I was actually discussing this show with a neighbor last night. I went over to his place and brought some good whiskey. We were talking about how everyone is so offended that Zemo shot that evil scientist. Meanwhile, Sharon Carter murders like ten dudes outside at the exact same time and no one gives a shit. Falcon absolutely murdered around a dozen people in the first scene of the series. No problem.

The reasoning we came up with is that it's apparently perfectly fine to kill grunts in the MCU. Named characters, though, are totally off limits.

Don't necessarily agree with this: killing in the act of combat is different when the outcome is not determined vs killing someone when you have other options (i..e Zemo didn't have to kill the scientist to protect himself or others).

But this for better or worse makes Zemo interesting: I mean he killed Wakanda's minister. Hard to justify that even if believe your true enemy (the avengers) is somewhat morally defensible

Surprised by how violent this show is?? Just not used to it from the other shows and movies with these characters.
