Traded: Javale McGee

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It’s @gourimoko back in disguise

McGee wasn’t a bad little investment though. Netted three total 2nds in the process of trading for him and reading him away.

Of course he wasn't. I was high on him to begin with.

To me Hartenstein is still an unknown and could trick people into giving Koby another chance.

Could be his little savings grace. Or not. He us going to play his ass out like his nba career is on the line, cause it probably is.

I like the trade because of Hartenstein. He's a 7 footer with some guard skills. I hope he gets minutes with us. The second rounders are a bonus.

bit of a bummer. We traded a good player for a worse player and some scratch tickets.
Does allow JB to start going small w/the 2nd unit more.

Not having a "Welcome Hartenstein" thread has totally spooked me. I only saw him play once, and I think he barely plays in Denver?

Can he move his feet? Sounds like a high motor guy, so people should like him even if he sucks.

McGee wasn't really that good. He fouled a lot and complained a lot. I like him for leadership if they say so, but I don't always think he displayed that on the court.

I want Dean Wade playing stretch 5 if Love comes back not Hartenstein.

Good Move Check out his highlights he can move he is not a stiff

Nobody is offering up those kinds of players for McGee.

The fact that we got anyone who even has a chance to be an NBA rotation player is a huge win as far as I'm concerned.
I would have rather kept Javale! This kid is not an upgrade to the position except age! Like I said I don’t put much faith in a kid who has a “chance” to be an NBA rotation player! You don’t rebuild with those kind of players!

They did a favor for a good-teammate veteran by getting him to a team with serious title possibilities. What we got back is a chance to work with another young guy and the sort of draft assets we used to pick up a late first rounder just two drafts ago. And nothing is stopping us from signing JaVale back this summer if both sides agree. I really don't see anything to complain about here.

Not grumpy, just unrealistic. Draft picks are almost never sure things. There’s been a lot of crap taken at #1. Sure, we’d love to acquire proven players but we don’t have the cap space or market attractiveness to get those types of players in free agency; to get those players in a trade you need to give up assets or cap space; and drafts as I said are never sure things.

When your “assets” are injured old expensive multi-year Love, rental expensive Drummond, poor shooting Cedi, poor shooting Prince and Boy Windler — you haven’t got a lot to sell out of the truck. We sold our most valuable asset we were willing to part with - McGee - and his value wasn’t that high.
That’s my point....what was the reason to make the trade? Was this just a salary dump? Wasn’t Javale coming off the books next season? We give up a player averaging 8.5 points and 5 rebs for one averaging 3.5 and 2 rebs a game! I always thought you make trades to improve your team. And Koby is becoming another Danny Angie....collecting all these drafts and doing nothing with them.

You also don't rebuild with a 33 year old center who is going to be a free agent after a couple dozen more games, and wants to play for a contender.

So this trade was made just to do right by Javale and get him to a contender. If that’s the argument here I can accept that! But nobody will convince me that this trade improved this team. And until Koby proves he can flip second picks into something constructive then acquiring second round picks is wasted energy.

javale is a known commodity, while hartenstein is a developing one. we are rebuilding, hence, you focus on pieces that is still growing in terms of talent and experience. denver wants a veteran because they are in win now mode while cavs want a young guy because they are in rebuild mode. what part of that doesn't make sense?

Those are the exact type of players you rebuild with. You get as many of them as you can.

The funny thing is the Cavs are the only franchise in the history of the nba who gave up on players too soon. The only one
You know expectations are low when the go-to excuses are "but other teams do it too!" "we weren't the only ones who passed on [insert player here] in the draft!" Oof.
