Game Thread | 2020-21 Season | Game #55 | Warriors @ Cavs | April 15, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The season has been over for a good long while, my guy.
we are 2.5 games behind the Bulls who we play twice with Lavine currently out, we also play wizards twice soon and raptors so as odd as it may seem it's not over yet, we are in the East after all and 10th gets you a play in spot so it is difficult to be eliminated before the final few games of the season

What does that mean, though? It still means we're a really bad team just playing in a very watered down post-season.

it means we are in a play in and our season isnt over..

At least they lost by 18 this time instead of 31. Baby steps.

The W's played an eight-man rotation and their three-man bench destroyed the Cavs. Lee was +16, Poole +21 (in 23 minutes) and Toscano-Anderson was +21 and scored 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting. For the Cavs, Prince was -18, Wade -17, Delly -16, and Nance -7.

The W's bench outscored the Cavs bench 25-6 in the first half and 45-23 for the game. So the Cavs' starters outscored their starters by 4 and our bench was outscored by 22. Delly, Wade, Nance and Hartenstein combined for 9 points in 58 minutes.

Sexton had 30 points and was a -29 in 34 minutes. Which means the W's were scoring unreal numbers of points when he was in the game.

If Curry hadn't had an unusually bad night shooting 3's (4-for-13) the W's would have won by 30. They are a far more skilled team in all aspects of the game, especially passing, cutting, and shooting. They shot 51.1% and had many, many uncontested layups and 3's.

Love looked like he was 45 years old. In 22 minutes he was 2-for-10 from the field and 1-for-7 on 3's. The Cavs can't win when Love scores 5 points on 10 shots. He looked positively arthritic. Maybe he shouldn't play in back-to-backs, especially if there is a plane flight involved. JBB saw he was hobbling and only played him 22 minutes.

The Cavs stand around way too much in the half-court offense. They have too many guys who can't create their own shot.

The Cavs were down by 9 with 4:30 to go and had the ball, but Love missed a 3, Curry hit a 3, Love missed another 3, and Curry hit a 3. After that sequence the Cavs were down by 15 with three minutes to go and it was all over. The sad thing is that Curry is six months older than Love but he plays like he's 10 years younger.

It's scary to think what this game would have looked like if the W's had Klay Thompson, Wiseman, Oubre and Paschall.

This is,why I hate advanced numbers because it doesn't tell the whole story....

In the first 4:31 of the second quarter the W's scored 19 points with Green and Curry on the bench. They outscored the Cavs 19-5. The Cavs always seem to have one really bad stretch where they can't buy a bucket and the opponent can't miss. The Cavs were outscored by 14 points in that 4.5 minutes and by 4 points in the other 43.5 minutes.

Too many agendas in here.
With that said Love looks like he's 45 out there. Dude is cooked and I fully expect to see him back on the injured list within a few games.
Nance and Allen both played poorly but both are coming off injuries. Same with Sexton. Garland had a poor game too. Both our guards fell into some bad habits tonight. I believe this was the first time all season we finally saw this starting lineup too.

Edit: They did start this lineup once before but Love got injured the first minute of that game.

Exactly! That’s why I don’t even pay attention to analytics and all of that +/- BS!
Just play the fukin game hard, play to win and win or lose don’t worry about numbers mean at the end!

Juan Toscano-Anderson became the latest bench warmer to get a career high against the Cavs. He's a 28-year-old undrafted player in his second year in the league averaging 5.1 ppg. He poured in 20 points on 8-for-9.

The Cavs have too many guys with serious offensive limitations; Nance, Wade, Delly, Okoro, Cedi. Even Allen mainly scores on lobs and put backs. It puts too much pressure on Garland, Sexton, Prince, and Love to either score or break down the defense and get somebody else an open shot. And the guys who can score are defensive liabilities. The Cavs need a couple of guys who can play effectively on both ends of the floor.

They're like a baseball team full of guys who either hit well but kill you in the field or who field well but can't hit.

Raw box +/- is not an advanced stat. BPM on basketball-reference.com is an advanced stat. Collin was 5.2 and Prince 4.3 - the only positive values on the team among those who played more than 2 minutes.

The reason he had a low raw +/- was that he played with the bench which was awful except for Prince (on offense).

Collin had 30 points on 19 shots, four boards, two assists and ZERO turnovers but the raw box +/- which is an awful stat was unfavorable for him so the haters are latching on to that. Whatever.

Obviously he’ll never be a defensive all-star but he brings elite scoring and make clutch buckets. The problem is that most of the rest of the team didn’t do shit.

I wanna go back and watch that stretch because it felt like Sexton never touched the ball and we played some God awful defense. That was the stretch where they had a lot of open layups.

Doubling Curry or Green is a fools errand. You have to switch on them, but the cavs weren't prepared to play that way, so the Warriors exploited that. Even when. They were the worst team in the league the Warriors easily beat the cavs because of this. You can't double them.

Their weak side attack is too good and fast to recover. Cavs play a scrambling defense an gs passes too well

Sexton played the entire second quarter and took one shot. Whatever happened, he wasn't dominating the ball.

This is what I thought.

And during that stretch he wasn't ball stopping at all. It was the Taurean Prince show if I recall.
Cavs took 20 shots in the 2nd. Garland was 4-11, Love 1-4, Sexton 1-2.

For the game Collin was 10-19, 3-5, 7-10 for 30 points with no turnovers. That looks like pretty efficient scoring to me.

Curry took 6 more shots to score three more points and also had four turnovers.
