At least they lost by 18 this time instead of 31. Baby steps.
The W's played an eight-man rotation and their three-man bench destroyed the Cavs. Lee was +16, Poole +21 (in 23 minutes) and Toscano-Anderson was +21 and scored 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting. For the Cavs, Prince was -18, Wade -17, Delly -16, and Nance -7.
The W's bench outscored the Cavs bench 25-6 in the first half and 45-23 for the game. So the Cavs' starters outscored their starters by 4 and our bench was outscored by 22. Delly, Wade, Nance and Hartenstein combined for 9 points in 58 minutes.
Sexton had 30 points and was a -29 in 34 minutes. Which means the W's were scoring unreal numbers of points when he was in the game.
If Curry hadn't had an unusually bad night shooting 3's (4-for-13) the W's would have won by 30. They are a far more skilled team in all aspects of the game, especially passing, cutting, and shooting. They shot 51.1% and had many, many uncontested layups and 3's.
Love looked like he was 45 years old. In 22 minutes he was 2-for-10 from the field and 1-for-7 on 3's. The Cavs can't win when Love scores 5 points on 10 shots. He looked positively arthritic. Maybe he shouldn't play in back-to-backs, especially if there is a plane flight involved. JBB saw he was hobbling and only played him 22 minutes.
The Cavs stand around way too much in the half-court offense. They have too many guys who can't create their own shot.
The Cavs were down by 9 with 4:30 to go and had the ball, but Love missed a 3, Curry hit a 3, Love missed another 3, and Curry hit a 3. After that sequence the Cavs were down by 15 with three minutes to go and it was all over. The sad thing is that Curry is six months older than Love but he plays like he's 10 years younger.
It's scary to think what this game would have looked like if the W's had Klay Thompson, Wiseman, Oubre and Paschall.
