BTW, I'm loving the relationship that Hunt and Chubb has. I'm really hoping Chubb goes for a Derrick Henry-like contract (or less) given that he's splitting carries with Hunt and doesn't have an enormous workload. I hope they would want to play together long-term, and I wonder if this could impact his contract demands.

That type of contract while having a guy like Hunt is a lot more secure, imo. Chubb does not have the same wear on his legs as a back that runs 30 times a game for years.

I just think if it's not a massive contract for Chubb, it's only because of His Mercy on Browns' Souls, but I can see it. He's that dude where it's at least possible. Teams will be fawning over him, so we're going to have to win with more than just the offer - things like taking care of Hunt on a longer (reasonable) deal, and showing him loyalty, with guaranteed money but also off of the field, is how we can get this done.

If he's always got holes and we're playing winning football and respecting his game, his body, and his body of work, I could see him sign long-term even if there are other back-channel "grass is greener" overtures.

Damn I love Chubb and really really want it to work out.

DeCastro's career may be over.

That's what people out here were saying when the Steelers announced the move. Stanford fans were bummed, he is one of their all timers.

I thought he had retired already

What is a fair price for Chubb? He's certainly worth best RB in the league money but if we can lock him up to something 3+ years at $12MM per year, I'd be all over that.

If you want a discount, I feel like you have to increase the length. You aren't getting both a discount AND a short contract.

6 years, 80M and I wouldn't even blink.

I think we are looking at 5 years and 65 Mill with 35 guaranteed.

Henry just signed 1 year ago a 4 year 50 mil with 25 guaranteed.

Essentially the first 2 years are almost fully guaranteed, 3rd year about half, and give him about 15 mill in bonus or 3 mill a year so you can get out after 3, but Chubb gets his money.

So you get a bit longer, but have a safe out after 3 years, but you guarantee more so the money is reasonable. Give to get, its a risk, but only really a 3 year risk.

You can't slap this into RCF without some mention of guaranteed portion. I mean, I am on board 6/80 but what's the signing boner?

Let's throw down 40 guaranteed.

Honestly it's a crap shoot trying to guess these things. That's not what I'm doing. I'm just saying what I'd be comfortable with--and I'm a cap conservative who doesn't value the rb position highly.

If you said "well, 6/80 is certainly valuing the position highly!" You'd certainly catch me. I just think Chubb is the best back in the NFL for our team.

Chubb is the engine that makes our offense hum. Without him, we don't have nearly as much success in the play-action passing game. He is the perfect compliment to Mayfield's game and our blocking scheme.

I'd argue he is the most important piece on our offense so I don't mind an overpay here.
