The thing we would be able to sign a player who would be on the court. He is not worth anything if he can not play and taking a roster spot ,he could retire with a medical and come back as a coach assistant.
The things you're talking about aren't going to happen.

Kevin Love isn't going to retire, and he's certainly not going to coach with the Cavs.

"Ok guys, so on this next play I want you get injured and sit for 3-4 months"

Love never had very good conditioning. His production at the end of games was frequently poor even in his prime. He was a fast starter. Might just play him 20 or even fewer minutes. 30 for Mobley is good

I wonder if Kevin is worried about the Olympics being cancelled? Just a thought.

My best friend was supposed to visit me today, but even being fully vaxxed got Covid and cancelled. It's happening everywhere right now cases going up. I get only unvaccinated are dying, but I have a 4 year old who is unvaccinated.

I think depending on how fast this gets going we may have our Gobert moment again within a couple weeks

This dude is gonna retire.
You're right. He will.
Maybe in 2 years or maybe a year or 2 after that.
No way in hell he retires now. His wallet, his girlfriend, his agent and the entire players association would want his head on a platter if he did.

He's not going to retire now, but if he has another injury-riddled season, I could see it happening once his contract is done.

I keep seeing talk about buyout, but I'm pretty sure Altman said that wasn't going to happen. So Love will have to do his best to recover from the injury. If he can't, then I see him retiring when the contract is done.

This kind of reminds me of when I was a big Rex Chapman fan in the 1990s. I remember he was constantly injured as well, and retired when he was 33, IIRC. Of course, the big difference there is he didn't play on an enormous contract like Love, and wasn't a team leader, so it was an easier decision for him to hang it up early.

Except Rex found new fame on Twitter.

I will never understand the need people have to take personal shots at Love solely because his body is breaking down.

Couldnt agree more. He has 2 years left and what 60 million. If he retires he wont get that money. People need to put themselves in Love's shoes, would you retire? Honestly? Ofcourse you wouldnt.

A buyout in my opinion doesnt make sense this year. Very seldom does a player take a buyout before his final year. I dont even know if Love makes another squad at this point, his body is so broken. I think he just ends up as a mascott for the team for the final 2 years. He doesnt need to ring chase, he has one, and does anyone think at this point that Love is even worth the vet min?

I think Love ends up retiring after the contract plays out.

Once again, people in this thread blaming Love for signing the contract that was offered to him.

I remember when Kevin shuffled his shoes on the Stop to help us break a 52 year championship drought. I don’t remember Jim Thome, Bernie Kosar, Joshua Cribbs, Kenny Lofton, Joe Thomas, or any other beloved athletes getting the job done. So was Jim Thome stealing too?

Be happy we have tanked the last few years. Cavs are going to be in a good place next summer and Love will be a net positive expiring asset. Thank you for the championship Kevin and for sticking around. Most athletes don’t. Hell, Thome left us twice. Sorry about the injury luck. I know Kyrie has been snake bitten as well. Klay Thompson. KD. Kawhi. And Kobe as he aged. It happens.

i agree with your point, but you conveniently left off a very beloved Cleveland athlete in Jim Brown...he helped win...but yeah it was a bit ago, lol
