I’m not surprised at all. I wouldn’t give up 60M either. He has clearly lost his passion for basketball a while ago. He cares more about modeling and his outside interests. He already has a ring so why take a pay cut just to go ring chasing and make the vet min. He’ll just get hurt again and sit out 40-60 games and continue to collect his checks.
I don't believe he has an Olympic medal. Maybe he figured he could ride KD's coattails to a gold medal? Regardless he lied to them about being in shape and then basically got his ass cut.I wonder about the loss of passion for bball. Why would he bother trying with the Olympic team?

Dude's a bad apple. I wouldn't let him anywhere near Mobley or the other kids on this roster. We already know we're a lottery team esp with our unicorn Mobley just turning 20. The last thing we need is a malcontent with a hotline to the Athletic writers who will print all his complaints for clicks.
No no, I despise him. The shit he pulled with Beilein lost my respect forever. In addition to everything else. I was just curious why he was joining the Olympic team if he doesn’t like basketball anymore. I’m guessing it was some sort of self-serving ego thing, no matter what he said.OK @Alec Zander how do you see it? Can you give any examples of how Love has been a good teammate or vet leader these past few years?
@NMCav thanks for the info. TBH I wasn't following Love's career much until 2014 when he joined the Cavs.

He has a gold medal from the 2012 games.

Next year, Love is a big $30 million expiring. Not all is bad in this ordeal.
Part of me thinks he might like situation on this team with all that young talent & maybe he thinks he can contribute.
The issue will be the luxury tax line. Extending Sexton puts us over the tax. I'd hope Dan Gilbert is willing to pay the penalty for at least one year for the betterment of this team.
Good question. He certainly did not want to have it end like it did. He must have been humiliated. They didn't invite him to be on the Olympic team. He asked them for a try out and it quickly became apparent he was way out of his league.I wonder about the loss of passion for bball. Why would he bother trying with the Olympic team?

Maybe that will be a wake-up call. I don't think he wants to spend the next two years sitting on the end of the bench and going in for the last two minutes of lost causes with 3rd stringers and two-way guys. That would be humiliating. I have to believe he's working hard to bring his game to the level where he can contribute, even if it's just 12 minutes per game.
The Cavs could give him a choice - negotiate a buyout or get used to getting two minutes of garbage time with the guys on 10-day deals. Hopefully he'll show up as the same player who scored 30 against Boston last March.
