Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bruh.

Thornhill's left arm literally goes between Schwartz's two arms, starting above Schwartz's facemask and then his arm goes in a downward motion directly on top of the football jarring it loose from Schwartz's grip.

What are you even talking about flaying around?

Thornhill literally knocked the ball out of Schwartz's hands with a downward arm motion on top of the ball. It was intentional and it was a really spectacular defensive play.
????

the defender is just falling to the ground. He gets his hand in there and falls over. Its his body causing the downward motion of the arm, not a specific action. There is no "karate chop", its just him falling Once again Schwartz has to be strong enough to hold on to that ball. Period the end of the story.

Edit: I understand why he didnt catch it. but he needs to make those plays if he wants to be a regular WR, thats just the end of the story.

Holy shit my man.

Your decision to double and now triple down on the worst take of the day is really something.

If you can watch that clip and not realize that Thornhill used the exact technique that literally every single defensive back in the NFL is taught when they're shielded off from the ball by the receivers body, then I really don't know what else to say to you.

Just laughably wrong.

That's a great play by Thornhill.

And while Schwartz had it knocked out, I was impressed with the way he went up for it. That's just a bang-bang play that the defender happen to win.
Yeah it was a great play on the ball by Schwartz but a better play by Thornhill.

The defender has his head turned towards the ball and gets his hand between the Schwartz's arms. DBs are taught that all the time. His body is moving in the opposite direction, yes, because he was running in that direction and tried to slow down. However, you can tell that he brought his arm down to try to knock the ball out - pay attention to his wrist. Even as he's falling, it flicks downward. That's intentional.

We WANT Schwartz to still catch it, yes, but regular receivers can fail to hold onto it if the defender manages to get in there like that. He tried to bring it in but it's just a great play by the defender, and that's that.

dude, You clearly arent paying attention to my argument, so after this im done. Schwartz is paid to catch the ball. Its his job. The ball hit him in the hands (both of them), and he controlled it very briefly. At that point regardless of what the defender is doing its on Schwartz to come down with it. You see this play all the time, where a defender has his arm in the way and the reciever still comes down with it. We saw it at least a couple of times yesterday.

I understand why Schwartz didnt catch it. I got it. The defender has his arm there, it made Schwartz's job vastly more difficult, because it is absolutely not an easy play and its not like Schwartz just dropped it. However when the ball hits you in both hands, and you control it, you need to be stronger/better than the defender. Thats the end of the damn story, its not complicated.

Go ask Schwartz if he should have made that play. You really think he is going to say "nah man, the defender made a great play, there was no way I was going to complete that catch".

The adjustment by Schwartz is great on that play, very encouraging that Schwartz can play WR and not just be fast.

I bet you Thornhill doesnt make that play 9 out of 10 times. It was an incredible defensive play.

I dont understand the take? I dont think even D-Hop makes that play. Thornhill was able to get his hands in the exact spot that he needed and timed it perfect. Schwartz made a good adjustment to the ball, Thornhill better. Schwartz makes that catch more often than not, this happened to be a not.

Just to be clear here, no one - including me - is ignoring your argument. What I'm doing is simply pointing out that you changed your original argument when presented with clear evidence that you were wrong to begin with.

Over the last 15 minutes you've moved the goalposts from...

"Thornhill is literally flaying around." and "Thornhill doesn't really move it." (these are direct quotes from you)

To admitting that Thornhill made a good play on the football, made Schwartz's ability to hold onto the ball more difficult, and that you're simply being a pissy pants that he didn't hold onto it after an excellent defensive play.

i do not give a shit what thornhill was doing. period. as i said. Thornhill could have been bashing him with a fucking 2x4. Its schwartz's job to catch the ball that hits him in the hands. He didnt.

Wait, which of these is the end of the story? Is this Choose Your Own Adventure Browns Hot Takes Edition?

Should Schwartz be cut for his failure to catch the ball?
