He’s actually playing against a few NBA players, retired NBA players, Overseas players and College players. Jerry Stackhouse, Rob Covington, Damian Jones, Saben Lee and Aaron Nesmith was there.

I also didn’t know workout videos had to prove anything. It just shows exactly what they’re doing which is working out and improving their games. Not sure what the issue is. Sexton video was just posted with him working out in an empty gym, and there was no bitching and complaining about it.
Hey hand-on-a-stick, formerly known as broom would like to have a word with you by calling it an empty gym.

No. 2 is the part I just can't with anymore. It's okay that Sexton turns it over a lot. It's okay that Sexton doesn't get assists. It's okay that more than 75% of Sexton's shots come from within the arc. It's okay that he has the highest usage. The absence of spacing is the fault of others including the team's best three point shooter. It's okay that he gives minimal effort on defense including the failure to do the simple Simon stuff you teach high school kids.

Sexton just isn't that guy. None of that is okay. It's why he's only a net positive on the floor when he's shooting at unsustainably high efficiency. Look at his monthly splits from last season. We've been a 20-win team for three years running and Sexton has had a hand in that.
I mean if you want to keep it real the only reason Garland had a decent shooting % from 3 was he was often left wide open when he let fly. Nobody is saying he dumb. Kid knows how to play and picks his spots better than most. However, he needs to be the guy who can do it when defenders are on him otherwise he is no different than Sexton passing up 3's and opting for hunting shots by getting past his man or should I say the wall of defenders on him.
Sexton aint perfect but these Garland is God takes are worse than people claiming Love could still contribute to this team in a positive way
If the Cavs agreed with you Sexton would have been traded for a bag of socks

I want both guys looking for the other more. Garland looking for Sexton to push the ball and Sexton getting Garland shots outside the arc.

3rd year is really make/break for guys. Garland has looked like the best Cavalier on the floor at many moments last year, but it's still not all together. What do you think the 1 or 2 things are that he needs to do this year (asides from Cavs winning more games, which is a given).
1. I think he needs to get the team playing with pace and into early offense a ton quicker than they did last year. (stop over-dribbling)
2. Has to get more aggressive on the 3 point shot and start using it to set up his drive/dish game in halfcourt sets.
The bonus item is improved perimeter defense, but if he can get those two things down this year, Darius has a huge jump in development. Maybe pushes him into top 10 or top 7 range.

He needs to learn how to draw fouls it's one of his bigger weaknesses right now.

He needs to go to the hole more if he's going to pick up more fouls. The cheesy Harden/Young fouls may be harder to get when the rule change is in effect this year.

I'm actually curious as to whether the NBA is serious about the rule change re the offensive player initiating the contact, or whether it's going to be like the annual moving screen point of emphasis where it's a thing for the first three weeks of the season and then everything returns to how it's always been.

Sure but they were miles better than Garland.

Per 100 AST:

Young - 12.9
Ball - 11.7
Curry - 9.1
Irving - 8.8
Lillard - 6.9
Garland - 5.4

AST/TO ratio:

Young - 1.6
Ball - 3.1
Curry - 2.1
Irving - 1.7
Lillard - 1.7
Garland - 0.9 **

Limited data on Garland but those were the concerns from HS too. And numbers pull down as players go up levels......so think about if you are calling those other guys non facilitators......and consider how much better their AST generation and AST/TO ratios are as prospects.

The reason I mentioned it is there's not many examples of someone being of Garland's physical and playing profile, with poor passing metrics, who was a really good NBA player. That's not to say Garland can't be, it's just less likely. Young and Garland are both below the rim players.....the fact that one is an elite facilitator and one is not just really matters. Other guys in the top 5 were not necessarily elite facilitators but good ones, who have been plus passers at the NBA level. If Garland can be a plus passer, his calculus changes a lot as a player.

**Edit: I had Garland's AST/TO wrong above....it's actually lower. The 1.2 I had listed was the database column next to AST/TO.....which was BLK+STL+OREB/PF.
Avoiding work to Gravedig.

This is not meant to single out @I'mWithDan . He was right that Garland doesn't have good numbers and his prediction was basically dead on the money with Garland only averaging 3.9 ast and 2.6 turnovers his rookie year! After watching this year it is hard to believe Colin averaged more assists this year than Darius did as a rookie.

Darius is now up with Curry with his NBA numbers in his second year with a just over 2 assist to turnover ratio and 9.1 assists per 100 poss. I know he had a year of NBA experience, but he is still younger than Curry when he came into the league.

Very interesting that if you look at his rookie stats, you wouldn't think he was much but he has very good indicators now.
