Some combination of coming off major injuries, lack of chemistry with Mayfield, and being in a run focused offense with limited opportunities for him to make plays.

These problems have bubbled over to a mental block and drops. Needs a change of scenery to recover some of his value. He can still play but Cleveland and him just isn't a match.
How much of it is a product of NY media hype machine around 1 catch? I didn't watch much football when he was considered good and I never watch the NFC East so I've only been exposed to the Cleveland version of OBJ. Honestly I've seen glimpses of greatness. I think he had a big catch last year on a Thurs Night game.. like an 80 catch and run. But other than that. He's just been a no show or injured. What am I missing?

He put up crazy numbers in New York and there was optimism that Baker/OBJ would dominate together for a long time...

Probably gonna be passed around contenders like Sammy Watkins and Desean Jackson. Think he's capable of putting up decent numbers, but it sucks that it can't happen here.

Not close to either as a role player, specifically Jackson. Jackson has never lost a step deep.

Meant as a career trajectory comparison. Checked Watkins numbers this season though, think OBJ is capable of that

We need to cut our losses before the end of the season. He can’t be relied on to make a contested catch and for whatever reason Baker plays like dog shit when he’s on the field. No reason to keep shooting ourselves in the foot by trotting him out there this season.

Hard to believe a team wouldn't roll the dice and give a 4th for a chance to help ignite their offense. And if I were Berry, I'd pull that trigger. We're not winning a Super Bowl this year and even if Baker was magically healthy, we have no evidence he and OBJ would start clicking. He's gonna be gone - might as well trying to get something, anything for him.

And he apparently makes our fanbase make dumb posts too. How does he affect Baker and the fans so much like that?

There is NOTHING to gain but cutting him or trading him for a 5th or 6th rounder during the season.

PLENTY of good NFL WR's make drops.

He pushed through an injury(which is even more important when DPJ got ruled out tweaking his groin in warmups), played, was wide open on some routes that Keenum just couldn't get get to him, and made a catch to convert a third down.

Now, should he be here next year at his current salary number? Based on what we've seen so far, probably not. But finally it is this offseason that they can release him with zero dead cap hit.

There is something to gain by getting rid of him if the team executes better when he’s not out there. If the OBJ experiment hasn’t worked by now it never will.

You think the coaching staff and players in the building believe that?
And would be cool trading talent that's already counting against this years cap for a 4th or 5th round pick to another team?

Unless we drop 3-4 straight games before the trade deadline and are not in the playoff race, we should not be dropping talent for future picks.

In the offseason, we can cut OBJ and clear 15M in cap space with no cap hit/dead cap. That is the time to trade or cut him. Not in the season.

He massively and directly contributed/impacted to two victories(DAL, CIN) in the 7 games he played last year.

In no way do I out the Freddie Kitchens disaster on OBJ or any Browns player.

He's working his way back from injury this year. There is no direct cause/correlation proof that we are somehow better without him. And there is nothing competitively to gain this season by trading him for a pick.

He can be moved on from at no cost in the offseason if that is the right move at the time.

Look, I was as excited as anyone when we traded for OBJ. I have no reason to wish for him to fail. In my unprofessional opinion the offense executes much worse with him on the field. Maybe the advanced stats show he’s open 98% of the time, but all I have seen is the guy kill many drives and for some reason our potential franchise QB gets the yips when he’s out there. This team has the talent to compete for a Super Bowl this year, so I don’t want to wait til the offseason. I don’t know why he doesn’t work on this team, but he just doesn’t. If his name wasn’t OBJ there would be no one calling for him to stay in the lineup.

I'm fine with waiting 'til the offseason if that is the optimal move. I don't know what the optimal move is, but if Berry and company feel like working a deal before the deadline is the best way to maximize what little value he has, then I'd be okay with that trigger being pulled.

He has no value on the field to me. It's just not there and I'm no longer going to pretend something magical might happen. He could be the most talented player in the history of the game, but the amount of targets relative to his catches/production is just not good.
