Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #15 | Celtics @ Cavs | Nov. 15

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You’d think a guy as big as Dean Wade, who barely gets guarded..

would occasionally have a couple put backs. Maybe a layup or two on a dump off.

but it seems like his favorite stat line is like 4-6 FGA and 0-4 Points.

he belongs DEEP on the bench. Not sure he’s even an NBA player tbh.
He’s an emergency body for D and that’s about it. Not surprising as he wasn’t drafted. He has held the fort defensively these past few games but opponents have figured out he’s a one trick pony on offense (open threes) and even that’s been off this season.

Frankly we have a lot of passengers on the bench.

Redsoon nailed it.

Being incredibly short-handed for weeks finally caught up with the good guys. They still made a game out of it with Tacko as 8th man - how, Boston?
That’s an embarrassing W for Boston. Missing 3 starters and Love along with Mobley being awful all night and they still probably lose if Valentine pays attention to where the fuck his feet are.

JBB gets too much shit here.

He's not a good coach yet, but he's not a bad coach either. Just like the team, he is learning to coach to win. Going to be growing pains there. Rotation wise, closing lineups, when to stick with lineups, when to change lineups up, etc. Those aren't just traits coaches have over night, takes some experience for that too.

But there is no denying he reaches this group of players. Guys are developing under him, the team plays their ass off, everyone is engaged even K Love, and the group seems to really enjoy being around everyone. That is coaching as well.

The question is does he progress past being the Cavs version of Mark Jackson, or is he the guy who builds the foundation for a better Xs and Os guy.

Only time will tell, but we can't have a shitty GM and a shitty coach when the team is playing this well, especially when you consider the circumstances.

No he wasn't lmao. Dude was hitting step back threes with a defender in his grill and drawing fouls both from 3 and in the lane.

Who do you even like on the team? Why are you a Cavs fan if you hate everyone?
Yes he was. They were pounding Garland. It's no surprise Garland finally found some room when Osman got hot. Post better.

In England they have the phrase “Man manager.” It’s a dude that isn’t a tactical genius but his players go all out for him and he’s a great culture guy.

Whatever else can be said about JBB his players are clearly thriving in the culture. 4-1 in games under 3 points is excellent, especially for a young team.

Yes. He's been on my ignore list for years because he always gives dogshit takes.

And takes like THAT one, in the face of every piece of evidence in the world tonight, are being made specifically to troll and be contrarian.
Like sure Rubio was "2-6 down the stretch." Whatever arbitrary slot of time he picked to mean down the stretch anyways, considering all of Rubio's 26 points in the second half were important in getting us back in the game. Ignoring the fact that he got to the line and hit 4/5 free throws and went 2/6 on threes, meaning he had 10 points on 8 true shot attempts (62.5% TS) "down the stretch," which is fantastic.

I mean I get Ed Davis is probably a decent vet to be around young guys...

But if he can't play at all... just make him a coach or something.
I'm a Rubiobro and i can tell you from having watched Ed on the Timberwolves and Jazz before that that Ed is totally cooked. Like you said, he's more of a coach/mentor. Can't even play when the top 4 bigs are all out.

The game is over, pot-shots at people because you have been trolling without any warnings can end now. Be negative respectfully or hit the road.

Somewhat agree.

What Rubio is doing doesn't feel sustainable. Playing offense like that doesn't feel sustainable.
No way a tank is coming. We're too capable defensively and try too hard. I do think we've been getting away with really bad offense and playing slightly above our heads so far, with guys like Rubio and Cedi bailing us out with unsustainable tough threes. But 36-40 wins is doable imo, which would be a great improvement on last year and would still allow us to hopefully get a decent forward in the draft this year. I feel next season is where we become a legit playoff team.

I dunno.

Ask me next week after these next 3 games. If we get blown out in all 3, we'll see how everyone feels.

ANd I feel Rubio is having to carry too much of the load. I love thathe's helping us win and hate that he's the best guard on the team and the team largely looks like shit when he's not in the game.

Those are warning signs about the guards on the team.

Oh, I fully expect us to go 0-4 over the next 4 games, especially with the injuries. Just a brutal line of opponents. But then we play the Magic and we'll likely be 10-10 about a quarter of the way through the season, and honestly that's not too bad given the injuries and the schedule so far. There's no way we win less than 30 games imo. 37 wins would be my guess right now.

We we’re short of size and strength tonight. Windler was too much of a liability on D and couldn’t do much offensively either game.

Boston is just a bad matchup for him. Unfortunately they’re not the only bad matchup for him. He’s not an NBA rotation player IMHO, and obviously JBB doesn’t trust him with minutes.

Really not sure where people get the idea that Valentine is some sort of defensive stopper. Okoro also got burned to shit most of the game. Windler had a pretty nice block in the lane as well. I feel like some of this Windler being a defensive liability is bullshit while giving other players who aren't good offensively some credit for being defensive..
