The Cavs seem to be improving by the game. The Wizards were 8-2 at home and at one point the Cavs were up by 36. This is getting serious.
Getting Love and Markkanen back was big. We didn't have them in the 3-point loss to the Wizards last month. Love had 13 pts and 9 boards in 18 minutes. Markkanen didn't have his best night but scored 15 points, including a rare 4-point play.
Garland and Allen were fantastic. Those two have it all going on. I'm still waiting for Darius to cut down on the turnovers. He had 7 tonight - exactly half the team's total.
The Wizards had zero second chance points in the first half and very few in the game as the Cavs amazingly held them to 3 offensive rebounds. That might be a season low for the NBA, not just the Cavs. Harrell only managed one offensive rebound. The Cavs are ranked 29th in defensive rebounding percentage but they totally dominated the glass with an overall edge of 54-33 and an offensive edge of 15-3.
The Cavs held the Wizards' starters to 39 points. Bradley Beal was again kept under control as he went 6-for-17 after going 4-for-19 in the first game. Harrell was totally neutralized. Kuzma got off to a good start but finished with only 12 points and a -32 in 23 minutes.
Garland was a +29 in 34 minutes. Rubio had yet another bad shooting night, going 3-for-11. He's now made only 21 of 80 shots over the last seven games. But the Cavs are winning anyway.
I think heads are starting to turn around the league as these scores keep coming in. But to be honest, the Cavs are catching teams at a good time. Miami was missing Butler and Adebayo. The Wizards had lost 5 of their last 9 coming in.
