I’ll continue to say Teddy Bridgewater might be someone to keep an eye on with Stefanski being on the coaching staff in Minnesota..
Trubisky and Mariota make sense as an upside backup QB play but not a realistic option as a starter..
I see Cousins/Garoppolo as the most likely options, given they’re likely attainable, wouldn’t cost the entire war chest and provide an upgrade to Baker.. Contracts may pose an issue but I trust Browns would be able to work through that (as we’ve seen with recent FA acquisitions).. Fact is, if you want a non-rookie QB there is a certain expected price you’ll pay..
I’m intrigued to watch which QBs get displaced as a result of the QB carousel (I.e. Tua and Hurts, maybe)…
Just bite the bullet and take a QB in Round 1. No other option makes sense or is realistic.
Bc they suck? Why are Tru and Mariota not realistic options as starters?
I think they're very realistic options, especially since both are former high first round picks who have starting experience. An added bonus is the Browns can sign them as unrestricted free agents, without having to give up compensation, as they would have to for Cousins or Garoppolo. Why are Tru and Mariota not realistic options as starters?
You realize people have said the same things about Cousins, Garoppolo, & Ryan Tannehill, the latter of whom found a fresh start in TN? Point being, one team's trash can be another team's treasure.Bc they suck?
And start him from day one?
Berry has said the QB position is the most important position on the team, you really think he goes into next year with Mariota or Trubisky starting after what happened this year? I’m far from a Baker supporter but even I would lean towards giving Baker another year over making either the starter. Why are Tru and Mariota not realistic options as starters?
Also has $35M guaranteed contract, with a $45M cap hit, for 2022. That contract makes him almost impossible to trade for.
If we knew that his legal troubles wouldn't affect his playing time, I'd pull the trigger immediately. Is it gross? Yeah, but we don't have any other realistic options.Woke up ready to sell my soul for Deshaun Watson. If the whole world seems to have forgiven and forgotten that Ben is a two time rapist then the same can be done for Watson.
I just don’t understand how these advanced stats translate when you’re working with an entirely different line, different scheme, coaches, running game etc….
I understand needing them to evaluate but when each situation is potentially different how can it be used as a deciding factor ???
