Game 39 | Cavaliers @ Lakers Jan. 19th, 10:30PM (ET)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Embarassing effort by Lebron and Mo tonight. Sasha regresses, Andy keeps playing like Drew Gooden. Not a recipe for success. It's not the loss, per se, but how we lost. Terrible.

ROFL @ Sasha regresses, that's the least of our concern right now. Kobe shot 9/22 and he was guarded by Sasha and LeBron. Sasha shot 5-11 (2-6 3PT) and only misses one real big shot that could of gave us all the momentum, the 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter. So far in 2 starts he is playing very well, just wish he could rebound a bit better because his boxing out on Pau Gasol failed at least 2 times tonight.

LeBron just tried to be fancy tonight, and it didn't work. Gibson once again disappears from the action and just defended atrociously tonight. I hate this 5 or so game slumps that Gibson has every 15-20 games where he just doesn't do nothing on the court if he is not shooting the 3 well.

Eh... what can ya see, we were without Z and our front-line was a joke. WTF WAS LORENZON WRIGHT DOING OUT THERE! MY GOD I WOULD RATHER HAVE MARTYNUS ANDRISURIVODFICOSUS OUT THERE CUZ THAT WAS SAD.

Thanks for making me stay up till 1 for this garbage.

We need more depth with big men. What we have just isn't going to get it done.If Danny Ferry doesn't see this than he's a freakin idiot.

Big Z will be back soon, and Hickson showed some nice flashes offensively.. you can tell he still is lost at times on defense though...

i dk, but if the deal is there for a young big that can make a difference for us now and in the future, then we have to get it done.. i don't want an Eddy Curry type player though.. I feel like when healthy our front court is good enough right now.. ofc we are up there in age a bit though.

i dont know about you. but i'm not that broken up about this loss. I expected it. And our guys played hard, they were just short. No big deal, we'll have big Z back on the 8th. Should be a different story.

I'm more upset with the Lakers taking shots at LeBron then the actual loss.

it's not lik guys were'nt trying though. And if lebron had a horrible effort, you could say the same for kobe.

Mo and Lebron were a combined 15-for-41 shooting. Effort probably wasn't the right word choice on my part - they sucked. Lebron too early settled for jumpers because he wasn't getting calls, and both of them were turnover machines.

I hate Kobe, but the man did play with a dislocated finger. That's effort.

Numbers from the game:

Lakers fouls: 17
Cavs fouls: 14

Lakers FTs: 7 - 15
Cavs FTs: 12 - 19

Refs weren't calling much either way, and the Lakers adjusted their game appropriately.

Laker FG: 44-84 (52%) - Gasol 11/13, Bryant 20 pts, 12 assists, 6 rebounds
Cavs FG: 34-79 (43%) - LeBron 9/25, Mo 6/16

Laker 3pt: 10-25 (Vujacic 4/5)
Cavs 3pt: 8-23 (bad shooting shared equally)

Lakers Boards: 44
Cavs Boards: 41 (surprised by this)

Lakers Assists: 27
Cavs Assists: 19

Cavs kept up for a half, barely, and then the Lakers cruised to a win by taking advantage of their size advantage at home. Dominant Laker win in the 2nd half. No other way to look at it.

Kobe outplayed James tonight despite a dislocated finger and in part because LBJ couldn't figure out how to get effective teammates involved. Bryant 12 assists, Lebron 4.

On the plus side, the Cavs looked solid for most of the first quarter and at times in the 2nd. Offense is still a big issue. Come back, big man.

Andy played really soft for most of the game, ben and our defensive rotations were just non-excistent...refs didnt help any

sad to watch

Lebron and kobe pretty much canceled each other out.

The problem was that when he passed the ball his shooters knocked them down and ours didn't. Kobe had Sasha Vujacic, Ariza, Fisher, Radmonovic knocking down shots. Also Gasol made us pay big time. At times the guy had open shots and Ben didn't even contest them. I don't think Mike Brown saw tape of how gasol plays, just watch what Rasard lewis did to him. If you front him he can't do anything because he never gets good position on the post. I thought with Ben's physical play we would be able to do that but clearly Ben and Av were out of it.

Mo was way off again and forced the issue. Too many factors in this game cost us the game including the refs. Oh well its over and we lost. Hopefully Z gets back soon.

I'm more upset with the Lakers taking shots at LeBron then the actual loss.

Even the announcers said something about the "should have been" flagrant on lebron.. that was also what was making me the most angry... The worst part was the lack of calls... Lebron's free throw shooting wasn't very good either though.. which was a bad sign right now..

I was so angry though.. the Lakers played a very physical game, but come on... if you are gonna let them play at least be consistent about it and let us be physical on defense too... i didn't see that...

I hate watching Kobe running around and pretty much just hitting people, anyone see him trying to hit ben early in the game? Sometimes i wish he would just catch an elbow to the face or something.. he's like the kid on the playground that no one wants to play with bc it's certain that he's going to foul the crap out of you and then argue with you about it... You don't want to play with them bc their elbows are flying all over and they are just psychotic.. that's what kobe reminds me of lol..

I can't believe Pau didn't get ANY over the back calls at all...

It's harder to get caught and called for those when the guy you're jumping over is 4-6 inches shorter...

I'm not saying there weren't fouls, but the Lakers stayed physical when they saw the refs were avoiding their whistles.

I have no idea how far below this post will go, based on the overpopulated posting that goes on when we lose. But I don't care, if I have to post this again, so be it. But I'm making my voice heard.

I saw the entire game like many of you here did. I don't care to look into the back of these pages, because I already can guess what many of it says. But then again, there's others that probably analyzed it pretty well.

This Cavaliers team is really good. Make no mistake. For them to still fight down by 18 with 5 to play tells me that we are a strong team. But... we went up against an equally strong team that knows how to adjust to big runs, unlike some of the other teams that screw up (and the ones that couldn't beat/or barely beat teams like Orlando, Boston, and our 2 franchises).

This was not going to be our game. I guess we can't win them all. But the Lakers were much bigger, their shooters were perfect, and Kobe was extremely motivated to win it even more so than our superstar. Don't let that discourage us, guys. We were due for a loss against them, even though it hurts.

I still think we're very good, but I guess this game will give us perspective to see how we compare to the best, size-wise. Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol, and Lamar Odom are a deadly trio of big men, despite what we all thought about them. Having Z back may help that, but like someone else said, it will require perfect sets every offensive play, along with the defense. Having West back will help that, but will require us to persevere until then (unless we make a trade).

Anyways, the first half was a good one. We were clearly battling without key players and still held a 1 point lead. We probably weren't even supposed to be in it at the end when you think about it.

I'm still optimistic. Cautious, but optimistic. We had hit. We'll fight back. If we can't hold up for the next 3-5 games, that will give Danny more to think about.

Don't give up guys. Don't get too upset about it. We're not through yet.

Ugly game. Not gonna panic yet but we are massively exposed without Z/Delonte.

I just hate LA, i don't like Kobe, i don't like Pau, and I hate how the media has this crazy obsession over LA and Kobe.. it's ridiculous.. we are usually disrespected.. i mean seriously, take Lebron and Kobe off of their teams, and I think that the cavs supporting cast (when healthy) would be a tad better..

I just can't wait until we are healthy again and playing good basketball..

on another note.. Wally is so terrible :|..

How is Wally terrible? He actually had a decent game shooting wise and then they just ignored him. He missed one easy shot but did well on some other ones. I don't understand why we do that. He created some shots he shouldn't have normally made. I think it was stupid that he didn't get more.

The #1 thing that killed us this game, EVERYTHING WENT OVER VAREJAO'S HEAD we had no size in the paint, at all.

#2, You know those huge random ass passes that have been in style this season for us.......They picked off damned near every one of them.

#3, We couldn't get inside, PERIOD
