But wait he's in a 2 or 3 game shooting slump, so we NEED TO GET RID OF THAT BUM!!!!

Can't quite tell if you're sarcastic, but im thinking you are.

The only struggles I wouldn't be able to deal with are his pouting/tantrums like he had last year. Adjusting rotations/playing time can cover playing struggles, but his experience and skill set can still be helpful for developing Evan, JA and Lauri. Plus, it's not like the Cavaliers are struggling financially and *need* to unload him.

Can people stop fucking talking about trading him? It’s such a dumb argument. He has negative value because of his contract. Why the hell would we give up assets to trade a highly productive bench player when Dan doesn’t give a shit about being in the tax? He has 1.5 years more left. Just ride it out. Love’s been great for us this season even though he’s in a few game shooting slump right now.

It’s also just annoying how people here will use the last couple games from a guy and act like that’s how they’ve been playing all season.

Nailed it. By the time luxury tax becomes an issue, his contract will be done. Nobody will want him in a trade without us accepting crap in return. And as you said, he's playing very well. So it's deleted please use a better word to be discussing trading him at this point.

Yes, I was being sarcastic. Super sarcastic.

Despite his "slump", Love's 18 pts on 13 shots last night made him more efficient last night than any of our starters. He is a perfect fit for us coming off the bench even though he is overpaid.

I think some folks may be massively underestimating how easy it would be to replace his bench production if he used him in a package to add another starter.

You have to add another 3 shot attempts to this stat to account for the free throw attempts. Those didn't come out of nowhere, right?

Plus, he's HAPPY with the role of coming off the bench...thats an underrated aspect, as well.

We seriously need to trade this dude. His production this year could be fools gold. Get rid of him while he has some value, it may not last.
Was never with the Kevin Love feel good story… I don’t think there’s much of an upgrade to move him unless you get someone to bite on a bigger trade…. But between potential substantial decline in play and the likelihood of a debilitating injury—- I’d at least attempt to move him if you can snag some sort of asset for him…

And also have to consider his defensive rebounding, which is definitely a need.

I think it is very unlikely that Koby trades him. His net value as a trade asset is still negative because of his salary, and we do have Rubio's salary slot (and it's an expiring) to balance a trade if necessary. So why essentially pay another team to take a guy who is performing so well here?

I think he will have great value next year as an expiring. If he is still playing halfway decent all the better

A lot of this seasons success is Mobley and Garland, Allen improving. But Love and Cedi were two guys I do not think anyone expected anything from pre-season and they have been $

Calm down, calm down! I was just pointing out that his long hot streak seems to be over. Also, that makes him even more untradeable than before, so all you Love fans can rest easy.

Anyway... while I'm fine with him playing out his deal here, let's not kid ourselves - his already subpar defense has taken a nosedive lately. You rarely see him even trying to close out shooters now, he's resorting to fishing for charges instead of challenging drivers, and there's been quite a few occasions when he clearly hasn't bothered to run back on defense. You saw none of these things early in the season.

When he was shooting lights out, this stuff was easier to take. If he can't make his shots, it should be Wade Time, baby. At least that guy can move.

Wade's better defensively, but Love is the better shooter, passer, and rebounder, and it isn't close. And considering Love is coming off the bench, his defensive weaknesses aren't exploited as much as they would be if he was starting.

I guess I don't see a universe it which it makes sense to give Love's minutes to Wade.

Hot streaks do not last an entire season. There are hot streaks then slumps. If we got an offer we could not refuse I am fine with moving him. If we get a equally bad contract and a young wing, sg or pg that is blocked on the bench I would have to think about it seriously

I just do not see that happening but who knows. I am for playing wade more and limiting loves mins to the 20 min level for sure

Don't look now, but Love is 4-18 from the perimeter in the last three games. Trade value alert!!

Maybe he's caught Lauri's yips bug? Is it too late to isolate Kevin?

Players have ups and downs. Plus all 3 games have been on a west coast trip. Typically shooters shoot better at home.

We should just cut Love, he has been bad from 3 for 3 whole games.

I'm just saying that Morey's position isn't lacking in logic. By the time it was absolutely clear that Simmons would refuse to play for the Sixers, the big offseason trading period already was over, so he'd have been moving Simmons at a discount, and why the hell should the Sixers do that?

The deadline will be the next big trading period, and as long as they add the right talent then (which likely would have been better than they could have gotten in October anyway), what have they really lost? They saved all the money they didn't have to pay Simmons, they sent a very strong message to future players/agents that they won't be bullied by trade demands, and they end up taking the best possible roster into the playoffs anyway.

Fans have been saying for awhile that these trade demands by players still under contract are bullshit, and that we wish a franchise would stand up to them. Well, that's exactly what the Sixers have done with Simmons. The narrative is that Morey has handled this so badly, but I actually think he handled it exactly the way he wanted given Simmons being such a whiny douche.
The narrative that Morey handled this badly has been loudest from ex players specifically. Of course they are going to say that lol. The other group I suspect is agents pushing through as the "sources" for some of the media who have echoed the sentiment.

I'm with you - this is exactly what some fans (me included) have been wanting to see for years. Good for him to stand up to Simmons' bully ball.
