I agree we are not ready for the finals.

And Congrats to Garland, he is finally playing like a starter. He has 20+/10+ the last 3 games in a row. Only one player is average 20/10 and might not be after today.

On a side night, Garland is one of only 6 players averaging 19/7 and he is closer to 20/8 which there are 2.

But he is finally playing like a starter. Fuck that, he is playing like an all star right now. When your stats are like 6 other's in the league and you are doing it efficiently, that means you are playing like an all star.
Maybe they meant all-star starter?

He’s headed to bring only the 8th or 9th guy ever to average 20/8 at under 22 years old - according to the Nets postgame guys

In that case any NBA player with talent is a ceiling raiser lol. Love raised the ceiling of that team. TT did

Tell me sincerely you'd take current Garland over '16 Kyrie as LeBron's running mate vs. GSW. If you wouldn't, then case closed and there's nothing left to discuss.

Has Garland regressed that much? Can we get him playing like his 15 yo self. Getting a player better than 2016 Kyrie would be awesome

How do you plan on taking current Darius Garland back to 2016?

It's a silly notion either way as we are talking about skillsets rather than the production. The notion is that Garland will continue to improve his current skillset and become what I think he can become. His skillset makes him able to run a team as an orchestrator and eventually will allow him to create such gravity so others could thrive. IMO.

Kyrie got to the league with skillset and ability so advanced and honestly he never really improved. This is just bizarre. Honestly, before he was injured during 1st year run I thought he was just as good as Lebron at times. I found myself wanting him to shoot the shots and make the plays rather than Lebron. It was a tragic injury. And despite the championship I really thought he lost some of his burst and ability to break down the defense ever since then.

Yes, his metrics did improve over in Boston and on the Nets, but that's just because he started to pass the ball slightly more and take more 3pt shots as the game shifted into this direction. HE could have been so,so,so much better.

That’s more of a fit issue than anything, since LeBron is an elite facilitator and playmaker himself. So really just because Kyrie is a better fit next to LeBron, doesn’t automatically make him the better player.
Exactly.

Garland and LeBron have redundant skills. The whole argument here is that Garland is better at running an offense and Kyrie is better if he doesn’t have to do so.

Let’s think of a team that really needs a PG. The Clippers with a healthy Kawhi. I’d take Garland over Kyrie on the Clippers.

That's for you to decide, since you and several others want to argue that a 3rd-year PG who hasn't seen the playoffs has a higher ceiling than a guy who co-destroyed the Warriors with LeBron.

I didn't say anything about being a better all-around player. King of the Hot Takes felt it necessary to call old boy a higher ceiling raiser than a guy I saw perform at the highest level on the highest stage. Anybody seriously propounding that argument is guilty of disingenuous, rabid homerism. The guy who gives you the best chance to win a title is the higher ceiling raiser and I saw Kyrie, as insufferable as he currently is, do that for this particular franchise.

There really isn't anything else that needs to be said on this matter.

Sorry, there is only room for hypotethicals of Garland on different versions of Cavs teams.

I don't want to even think of any scenario or hypothetical(even just for examples sake) of Garland on any other team in the NBA ever.
