Speak to me directly bitch.

Quote this when Garland becomes a better player than Kyrie Irving. I saw where Kyrie had led the Cavs when Lebron wasn't on the team.
Even the national media knows Kyrie has a beautiful game but hasn’t done shit without LeBron. Not homerism to point that out. And you’re not a homer for recognizing this team wouldn’t be as good with Kyrie instead of DG. Not taking away from how great Kyrie is.

Guys, if anyone is going to speak negatively of Kyrie right now, let ‘em. If they can’t be happy right now, they’re never going to be.

Now is the exact time to enjoy yourself, be hyperbolic. If you can’t dream big now then when can you?

Garlands playing minutes like Mobleys are a concern though both got Covid breaks.

Do whatever the heck you want, but you do realize that "DG being a higher ceiling raiser" wasn't even close to being the main thought of my reflection?

Well you said it and it was the only part of your post I took umbrage with. Everything else I agreed with, especially the part about DG being a superior leader. And I do agree that DG will grow to be a more complete, all-around player than KI, with overall superior intangibles and playmaking fundamentals. The outlandish hostility was an intended harkening back to the old days when we cut it up on here; we've always gotten along and I hope you're well!

I really don't think you base a decision as to which guy is the better PG based on the making of one shot.

It's amazing that you can actually quote my posts and come away believing that...in fact, I don't believe you actually think that was the point I was making. KI's "one shot" was just the capper on a legendary Finals performance that saw him dance on his MVP counterpart while putting up 27ppg on elite efficiency. I don't have to hypothesize about Kyrie's "ceiling raising" ability because I witnessed it firsthand, and we have a championship banner because of it. Very few players have ascended to that level...DG certainly hasn't.

I think that DG is off to an incandescent start and will, once again, usurp Kyrie as a more complete player, especially where being a PG is concerned. But "better PG" and "better ceiling raiser" are two different arguments. Notice that I said nothing about the other poster calling him a better floor raiser, because I believe he is.

Sigh. Please stop calling each other bitch.

I’ve seen some crazy things to get people riled up on this site, but didn’t see this one coming while the young Cavs are knocking on the door of a top seed.

I don't know what it even means to be a "better ceiling raiser" other than "making your team play better." I don't give any bonus points to Kyrie simply because he had great luck to play with the greatest player of all time. And if we omit LeBron.... Well, we all saw how well those Cavs teams played in games where LBJ didn't.

Irving is a hell of a scorer but if you think he’s ever been the engine to a team winning games the way Garland has been this year you’re lying to yourself. Irving doesn’t make other players better and aside from a couple games (albeit very important games in the finals) Garland is a better defender. He’s a better passer. He’s a better teammate. He’s a lesser isolation scorer.

I’ll take Garland, and I’m not sorry about it. Irving never ever had the work ethic or the inner fire to get better. Irving wasn’t much different tonight that he was in his rookie year. He had the natural physical and game speed and experience improvements but I honestly never felt like Kyrie took a leap the way Garland has taken a leap this year.

Since Kyrie left LeBron he hasn’t really been a winner and even now back as a third fiddle (part time) he’s not a winner. He doesn’t raise a damn thing. That Nets team will go as Durant goes. There are games where they’ll be better off with Patty Mills.

But Garland is an offensive engine. He is having the offensive impact to his specific team in a Nash/Curry manner. Eventually he may legitimately be on that level. For a year 3 player he’s been an absolutely fucking stud.

Mobley and Garland are both untouchable for me. Allen isn’t untouchable but I don’t see a realistic deal ever materializing with him as a centerpiece because hes a Center.

But yeah, I wouldn’t trade Garland for anyone that would realistically be traded at this point. I think he’s on his way to being a top 10/15 player.

Funny how those Celtics teams on which Kyrie played all seemed to do as well or better when he didn't play as compared to when he did. And that's because his isolation style of play actually subtracts from the ability of other players to contribute.

That weakness mattered much less with LeBron because LeBron himself already forced the Cavs to be an isolation heavy team. So, the Cavs weren't running a regular offense a lot of the time anyway.

He's an incredibly entertaining, very skilled basketball player. But his chosen style of play does not contribute nearly as much to overall team success as his individual abilities would suggest.
