Here is my "fix" for the Lakers and Knicks as soon as trade season opens up...
Why for Lakers:
Obvious. Westbrook was a pariah for Bron and the Brow from day one. He is who he is but a team/org has to be committed to using what he is to a strength and Bron in his typical fashion half assed the acquisition. I think he intended to take a backseat and let Russ do what he had done in OKC, HOU and WAS as the focal and primary, but eventually his ego and desire to catch Kareem caused him to waffle and throw Russ under the bus by Christmas.
By adding Randle back, you provide some beef and versatility next to AD that preserves the tissue man AND keeps the floor spread for both him and Bron. Fournier is and should be strictly a 4th/5th starter who spreads your floor but the Knicks and Thibs inexplicably made him the 2nd option and of course he floundered in that role. Here, he would be exactly where he needs to be for the right mix of guys to compliment for the right coach. Fournier becomes a Reeves mentor and shows the cost controlled shooter the tricks of the trade.
Kemba fills the Westbrook void in 20 mins a night for 50 games and still has some gas in the tank to play next to Nunn, Monk and
Why for Knicks:
First and foremost to fix the terrible cap limitations they just put on themselves with the contracts last summer. YUCK. But also for the actual on-court...This would be a Thibs wet dream. These two were made for each other. He slots him right into the Derrick Rose do everything for my offense role, Thibs allowed Randle to play on that playoff team. With the future flexibility they just created by moving Randle and Fournier, you can find 3-D guys to compliment/spread the floor for Russ and RJ. This isnt a long term thing, this is lets just fix our contractual bloops while putting a product on the floor that COULD still keep butts in the seats at the Garden and maybe even catch lightning for one year while we plan to get back into the Free Agent chase in summer of 2023. Another guy to consider adding next to him and RJ is PorzinGOD who is on the last year of his deal next year too.
I love watching Bron fail as a GM, but this should fix the roster imbalance and put him in a position (if he can get the right coach, which he can, in LA LA Land) to get back to at least competitive next year
