2022 Season | Series #20 | Guardians @ Rockies | June 14-16, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That bad lineup construction is leading the division in runs scored per game.

That is not an opinion.

Anybody who suggests that we should trade Franmil at the lowest point of his career, because of 145 PAs out of over 1600 in his career is baseball nuts. And averring that we can do it, because OGonz can step right in and replace him, is doubly baseball nuts.

Again, the majority of regular posters lean heavily to negativity that covers everybody, but Jose.

Disrespect is the constant abuse I take from about a half dozen posters on here. Its okay, I'm a big boy. But pointing out the constant inanity of some of these guys...who should know better...is not.

Again, if you dont like my posts, this site offers an ignore option.

These are the GAME THREADS, it comes from all sides in here!!!

This is the forum to seem irrational or be emotional or whatever.

Shaw gets the raw end of the stick from fans, even now when is essentially Tito's security blanket. Shaw wouldnt be in this situation if guys like Sandlin, Stephan, Morgan, Maton, etc would step up. Or Karinchak would just figure out how to doctor the baseball like most other pitchers and not be Captain Fucking Obvious.

As for Amed, he's in one of his hot spells, of course they need to find ABs for him. But it still doesn't mean he shouldn't have been shipped out in the off-season. Rinse, repeat old arguments: hes not as good of a SS as Gimenez, in any way, and he's shown no real ability to learn another position. The sooner he is dealt, the better. But for now? While the team needs offense and Amed is hot? You run him out there.

No qualms with Straw, as you noted, not many options.
Fair or not, my association with Shaw will always be losing the 7th game of the World Series.

Maton is long gone

And, good lord, Morgan has been phenomenal!

But we could possibly score even MORE runs with better lineup construction.

And trading Reyes at this point, the nadir of his entire life, would obviously not get maximum return. But everyone gets frustrated with his virtually total lack of production. If the guy gets in one of his hot streaks, by all means bat him behind Jose and watch the fun. But not when he’s in a 3-forever funk.

20 years ago, the Minnesota Twins were watching as a DH-only type player was foundering.. he wasn't hitting as much as they wanted.. and had two consecutive years of relatively poor production.. The brainless trust of the Twins front office decided that extending him would be money down a rat hole.. So, in their infinite lack of wisdom.. they released the once slugger.. He was picked up as a FA by the Red Sox a little over two months later.. David Ortiz went on to become Big Papi and World Series/ALCS hero..

Now is not the time to give up on Franmill.. now is not the time to trade him.. He is the source of power for this club and has an engaging countenance that brings the club together.. The suffering, for now, is tolerable considering what he may become..

With the return of Franmil kind of puts us out of wack.

Someone good has to sit, and it's most likely OGoat.

Rosario has been swinging the hottest bat, can't discard him.

Straw has a leash, he can bat horribly and still lead-off. But his defense makes up for bad 5 ABs, when it should be 3-4 ABs.

So I've come to the everyday lineup of:

Kwan RF
Rosario LF
Hosey 3B
Naylor 1B
Franmil DH
Gimenez SS
Miller 2B
Hedges C
Straw CF

Now if Straw completely implodes over the month and come July you want more offense:

Kwan CF
Rosario LF
Hosey 3B
Naylor 1B
Franmil DH
Gimenez SS
OGoat RF
Miller 2B
Hedges C

Sub Straw in anywhere from 6th-9th and let him be effective in Center to close the game out.

Or knowing Tito:

Straw CF
Rosario SS
Hosey 3B
Naylor DH
Franmil RF
Gimenez 2B
Miller 1B
Kwan LF
Hedges C

Straw wasn't acquired and then given a long term extension to leadoff on whims. Somebody didn't walk in to the office one day and say...Hey, lets trade for Straw today.

And later say to Dolan...Hey, lets hand out a pile of money to Straw today, and let him leadoff.

Both decisions were made after years of evaluation and deliberation.

A bad month doesn't change that.

The same with Franmil.

We aren't keeping up OGonz if he isn't playing everyday... Straw will be normally the starting CF (though I am all for him moving down the lineup).

The player position roster will depend upon Tito is allowed to keep 13 or 14 pitchers. Although the 13 pitcher limit is almost upon us, it has been moved back several times.

With so many doubleheaders coming up, Tito will go with whatever the maximum is.

Right now we have 13 position players.

That could be reduced to twelve, meaning that two position players could be sent down when Franmil returns.

********

Pilkington has been sent down and Castro recalled.

I'm not trying to bust anybody balls here, but you can't make decisions on small sample sizes, and its important to let kids try to play thru hard times.

In the last three games, OGonz is 3-10 with a HR and two walks.

Bench him

Does the leadoff hitter have to be fast? Can he just be really good?

Let’s say you don’t currently have a really fast guy available. You have someone coming off the DL that’s slow and he’s gonna take a spot. You don’t want to take good hitters who aren’t base stealers out of the lineup. Your current leadoff hitter is fast, but he sucks.

Can you innovate and skip the speed?
