How many guys has Fedor said would be the pick at this point?
No mocks have had Sochan dropping to 14. Cavz would rush to the podium if Sochan drops ton14. Fedor makes valid point that Sochan only guy on roster that could guard the likes of Durant, Butler , Tatum etc in the East

Sochan has been at the top of my draft board for the Cavaliers since we knew we got to keep the pick. I love his attitude, defense and upside.

Haven't followed him much, is he basically all athleticism at this point? What does he have outside of size/length over Okoro? I get nervous drafting people based solely on athleticism.

His defense and IQ are off the charts. He's got the smarts, quickness and strength to guard 1-4 and even some 5s. He has some playmaking ability. And he plays with an attitude. He will do anything it takes to win. He's a little dirty which some people won't like but every team needs a gritty dude willing to do anything it takes to win. He's got that Draymond/Rodman attitude on the court.

He isn't the best shooter which is worrisome but he's a willing shooter which is better then the players who are afraid to shoot. Gives me hope he will eventually become a better shooter. Year 1 I think he can play 25 minutes a night at SF PF and even some small ball Center. Then in 2023 take over at SF when Lauri slides to the KLove sixthman role. But I don't think he gets past the Knicks.

I don't even know where the athleticism talk comes from. Sochan is the typical college "power forward" type who's just big and long enough to bully meh NCAA opponents in the post, but who'll be too slow to guard NBA 2's/3's and too small to guard NBA bigs. We've seen tons of these guys.

He has no real burst with the ball and has a ground bound, awkward post game he won't be able to use in the League at all. To make matters worse, Sochan is a true non-shooter. When you make 59% of your free throws in college, you fucking suck.

Draft bloggers like to say guys like this just "need to work on their jump shots", as if it's trivial, and something they've never done before. Gimme a break. Shooting is the most important skill in today's NBA, and Jeremy Sochan can't shoot. Let's just accept that right now.

After watching a 13 minute scouting report, I don’t see Sochan being any more than a 15-20 mpg role player. Which is fine but I think there are better options. He doesn’t seem to do anything exceptionally but he does a few things well. I think his playmaking is overrated, obviously not a strong shooter and his ball handling at the 3 I think will be a weakness. The defense and versatility of course are the major pros but I don’t think that puts him over J. Williams, Dieng or Eason. He looks like a 6’9 Okoro. That can be helpful of course but there are others that have a much higher ceiling. Again that’s just my take after very minimal research - I would love if someone could talk me into Sochan at #14.

That's quite a take. A dude who couldn't crack the starting lineup of his college team will come in, immediately take major PT away from established NBA players as a rookie, and start in year 2.

Wow.

Didn't start for their college team? Man guess Scottie Barnes shouldn't have been picked top 5 since he didn't start at Florida State. Patrick Williams is a bum also since he also rode the pine at Florida State. Sochan should have gone to FSU and been their sixthman. He would have been a top 5 pick if he did.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again...whomever the Cavaliers get in this draft, I hope they are more helpful on offense. Whether it be scoring for themselves, playmaking for others or (ideally) both, this team is far weaker offensively than defensively. Get the guy who best helps this team get the ball in the hole.

I think Sochan is a player that will have a long career but how important he will be to a team will really depend on what the strengths are of the other players on the team and what positions they play. He most likely will be the 4th or 5th option on the floor and if his skills fit what a team is lacking, he will thrive. I can also see where he will be a limited bench player when the roster doesn't need his skill set as much. Jeff Green kind of career arch.

He is what Bray-mond would be if he didn't get drafted to a team that needed his specific type of cheating to allow the kind of offense they wanted to run. I hope he goes to a team I don't/won't hate.

I agree at this point. Especially at the 2/3, the Cavs need the scoring. Finding a PF that can get some of those shots, even post-Kevin Love, will be much easier to find it at the wing. Especially someone who could play PF alongside center Mobley and not disrupt the defense.
