Kevin Durant Demands Trade

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Am I wrong to think an LA team of Irving Durant, AD and Tosca dudes and Monk would be better than one with LeBron instead of AD..

We are all assuming AD gets traded off the island.. perhaps that is a Klutch thing

Really, the Nets have to tell Durant in no uncertain terms that he is playing for them this year and they expect him to do it well. They just can’t allow him to blow up the franchise based on whatever tantrum he is in now. I think he would actually come around.

With Kyrie back on board and if they can get Simmons to play they have a potential contender. They need to tell people to straighten out and fly right

We all know that's not gonna happen. Seen this too many times before.

Teams just don't want that season-long distraction.

Durant is asking them to destroy their team and everything they’ve built over multiple years. It’s not just a lost season but several lost years and becoming a rebuilding team if they trade him. They won’t get anything vaguely approaching equal value. “Distraction” is a small price to pay compared to the cost of trading him. Just say no. I don’t think they have a choice.

Didn't even play that 1st year of his new contract either. Nets really had a good thing going too. I really hope they get a good haul, last two times Nets went all in, and it blew up in their face.

I'm aware of that and I agree.

And they'll still try to trade him.

The NBA needs to find a way to address this phenomenon.

What is the point of multi-year contracts?

These guys have zero heart nor character. No patience.

It is almost comical now how quickly these guys give up.
I said it before….the NBA needs to cut out guaranteed contracts. So when somebody starts demanding a trade after signing a mega max deal….owners can say “Sure! We terminate your contract. Go sign with any team you want….good luck getting $250 million”

How about reverse trade-kickers?
10% salary cut when the player initiates.

KD has 4 years left on his contract and has no say where he goes. He also requested this trade a day or two after Kyrie opted in to his contract for one more year with Brooklyn because Kyrie says he won't leave KD hanging.

Sounds like KD is ready to gtfo of there and away from Kyrie. Even if it means risking being traded to a terrible team.

I can tell you personally that I enjoy watching fundamentally sound play, some excitement - all which we had last year. I think the Cavs have likeable guys. I also enjoy the on air personalities. There's more to like than just the game. But yes, their is plenty not to like (mainly politicking for me). Keep that shit out.

The NBA lost me as a fan, but this particular group of guys have kept me as a Cavs fan. I haven't watched a game that didn't involve the Cavs for years.

Part of what saves the NBA (in my mind) is that these superstar teams do not have a great track record. The Warriors/Bucks/Suns/Celtics have not been constructed this way -- and have enjoyed a ton of success. Teams like the Raptors (and Warriors) added a key star in Leonard (Durant), but the base of those teams were functional before hand.

That really leaves 1 title for the Lakers, 1 title for the Cavs (I think you can consider us a weird superstar-constructed team between LBJ returning and Love), 2 titles for the Heat, as the odd exceptions where "superstar-built" teams have worked.... Interestingly, all of them have included LBJ.

It can work if one guy is clearly the alpha dog and the rest sacrifice. That's rare though. These dudes have huge egos.

That’s brilliant. The other option would be to convert the last year of the player’s guaranteed contract to a team option. If it already is, convert the next to last year.

Owners will want some form of protection.

How do you prevent the player from just making the "trade demand" through backchannels?
